This should go pretty much immediately. Alps integrated dome with what appears to be spherical doubleshot Alps caps, and they're really colourful too, for just £25 BIN.

Hmm interesting, I've only ever tried Alps semi-integrated dome which has a crazy short travel, quite strange swtich. I do like the keycaps. Also nice inverted "v".But since I just spent keyboard € today I won't go for this. :maverick:

No idea. It is some sort of molecular connector plug (think RJ-style), but I didn't pay any attention. PM me if you would like me to dig it out. Having said that, even if different than the terminal M's, I'm pretty sure you could turn a coconut into a functional USB keyboard with Soarer's code and a little patience. For the missing right shift... they are curious little 2-piece caps. This is missing the "keycap" portion. So think Model M with only the keystem as an analogy. The key is functional, but not pleasant to look at.
Yeah, I don't see why it couldn't be converted. I have one as well, and they are REALLY solidly built. It's bordering on F tightness of everything when it's buttoned up. Too bad the switch isn't something mechanical but for what it is it is very well made.

Seems the high market price from when ohaimark sold his is still stuck in people's minds. I'd say prices then were pretty inflated, but then this one is bumped up quite a bit more beyond that.

It is NIB, but still. Competing with some sought after Cherry keyboards. :P

Yeah, I personally have a hard time seeing this sell for more than $300-350. Still very interesting though.

A clack sold for over $1500, for whatever reason. Not sure if the price was inflated by troll bids; not great, but very interesting nevertheless: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252489877984

Maybe somebody is selling to himself, to inflate the price of future ("real") buys of similar (or same) clack(s) (?)

That would be a bold venture considering the ~10% eBay fee on sales.

10%? Ouch (never sold stuff on ebay)

There are ways to buy your own item using a different account and not actually pay any fees :|

This sums up my thoughts too... This portion of the hobby is the closest thing to a Dutch Tulip bubble that I could imagine. I appreciate the "art" and "rarity", but HOLY $HIT. Time to break out the 3d scanner and start making some knockoffs.

EDIT: I would never spend 5k retail on a new keyboard, but I would take 1 HHKB with wood caps dusted in gold over 3 of the rarest Clacks ANY DAY

Probably the same trollers who drove up the blue Alps prices. Not sure what people are trying to achieve with this, but it reinforces the notion that a BIN option is probably a better option as a seller. If necessary by Dutch auction, which is the best of both worlds IMO.

Or people are just, you know, insane. For example:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/191942269762

5251 Beam Spring. $470 BIN (plus shipping). You'd think it was tested, USB converted, and gold plated for that price. Nope. Bone stock.

Of course the seller is vintagecomputermuseum, so that explains a lot.

I see several bids, so it's possible that someone got caught up in the heat of the moment. But a zero rep bidder? Most likely won't get paid.

But the crazy high blue Alps prices happened more than once. It could just be someone grumpy having fun, I do know ebay will punish users that do this more often.

90% of the time I start at the highest price that I realistically hope to see and drop 10% every few days until it sells.
It usually produces quicker and better results than any other method, with fewer "downsides"

Ebay is unpredictable and I seldom use a true auction unless I really don't know what an item might bring.

I re-post this occasionally, my personal techniques and experience:

Someone got sucked in. Here are the best offers. Why would they accept a low best offer if they didn't put in a few high ones to make it look like there was great demand (and many hidden offers). H9w did the later offers expire while the older one was good?

$685 - denied

That's bullshit. No-one denies a $15 mark-down on a $700 item.
