Yes, it's likely there was a common key cap manufacturer at some point. If you click through above to the photos of the NCR K430 board the original caps similarly had this Key Tronic type face.

Now of course the board has Cherry OG double shots except for the space bar.

Indeed, the 5155 was the first computer I ever owned, might have to get one myself one day ^^ .

Yes, I think I might have had ones older than that with ABS space bars, even. My '87 one doesn't, though, but that's quite an interesting beast by itself (it's a grey-badge model but it still had the rainbow plate, for example).

All 1391401s (and equivalent models and terminals, and later models) have oval labels on the left, and were made as early as 1986.

Only the 1390120 and 1390131 (and equivalent models and terminals) have square badge on the right and were made as late as 1988.

Odds of getting the shiny yellow plate in 1987 were still pretty good.

As a data point: my December 1990 1391402 has a PBT spacebar.

Yeah, should be foam and foil. By the way, I did find a rubber dome Key Tronic board that had an FT sticker on it, so that's not ALWAYS valid, it would seem.

I thought they had different suppliers and the material used in the spacebar could vary over the years.

What is the difference between foam and foil and topre like capacitive switches? I have a commodore AT/XT keyboard with capacitive single spring+rubber dome on each key, does it feel/work the same?

I had a Key Tronic rubber dome that had an incredible feel not mushy at all, being used in the administration for years surely helped it get that touch, gave it away to a school that needed some keyboards along with a Dell quietkey, will ask the teacher about bottom stickers.
