Keytronic F&F is nothing like Topre. The feel and mechanisms are entirely different. F&F uses two capacitive pads that register a key with the aid of a rubber dome or spring to return the key to "off" state and for tactility, while Topre uses a spring inside the dome for capacitance and the rubber dome for tactility.

They're Focus dome with slider. I showed and reviewed them in my dome with slider megareview. The caps LOOK Alps-compatible, but they're not, the slot is longer. I'll admit I'd never heard of an *800 series Focus keyboard before, but it looks like it was third-gen.

Thanks for the clarifiation

If that wasn't BAE I'd probably get that one.

The 2u backspace makes it okay in my opinion.

A complete NeXT setup from the local Goodwill affiliate.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/322229054555
It has the crappy rubber dome keyboard, but I don't think that's what makes the auction interesting.

If it was genuine Alps I'd agree but in this case I'd just be stealing the caps.

From a vintage computer guy, that's a sweet set up but I'm not in the market for one.

NIB IBM M4 and numpad:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-IBM-M ... 2106463520
A nice piece to have for a serious IBM collector especially since it has the number pad. Keyboard itself is okay, very heavy spacebar. I'd go for the 'Make an Offer' option on this one.

Shill-bidding seller:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/272340426289 (not accessible on ebya.com, description continued using ebay.com links)
Click on the number of bids displayed next to the actual price to access the bid history:
http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 7675.l2565
You can see that about 2 hours after the first bid was placed, someone (a***2) placed and immediately cancelled a bid.
Click on his feedback to access his individual bid history:
http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... e_ViewLink
The "Seller" column displays a coded indication of all sellers he placed a bid with in the last 30 days.
And yes, "all sellers" is in this case only one seller, always the same, i.e. the actual seller.
The first column shows in which category the items were listed,
and the sheer variety of categories excludes any collector being at work here.
What we have is one person bidding on probably every article of the seller.
And worse than that, the seller uses at least another shill-bidder, as can be seen here
(follow the steps described above):
http://www.ebay.de/itm/272340372204
evidence of shill-bidding as described above:
http://offer.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V ... e_ViewLink
In that case, there was only one real bidder, who obviously couldn’t wait and placed his bid early,
allowing the shill-bidder to continuously raise the price:
http://offer.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V ... 7675.l2565
Without the shill-bidder, he real bidder would have paid the starting price of 1 €,
the shill-bidder raised the price to 10€.
So folks, do not bid early, but snipe.
Edit: while I was writing this, the shill-bidder of the second item
placed a bid for the first item.
Anybody wanting to send the seller a link to this post?
Here’s the link:

It's just at EUR 1,50 with only two bids right now with 43Min left! Not much "Shill" action yet?

I got a snipe for that. Can't let that sell for cheap.

Analyse the situation.
There’s been one real bid. The first shill-bidder placed a 1.66€ bid and retracted, what he would not have done it was not the highest bid. The second shill-bidder placed a bid - amount unknown, but the fact that he is now the highest bidder proves that the first bid was just 1€.
The seller does not want to sell for 1€, so he placed a higher bid and will rather "buy" himself.
And seeing that there are 18 people watching the listing,
he starts what seems to be a bidding war to induce higher bids by late bidders/snipers.

I understand, and I don't care anyway.

I'm not bidding on that boring keyboard.

He's probably got the other account set on sniping to drive it up. What an AHOLE.

Same seller cheating there:
http://offer.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V ... 7675.l2565
If it had not been for his shill-bidding account, the buyer would have paid 16.56€ (1€ more than the last "real" bid).
Instead, he paid 40.50€.
Undue gain: 23.94€
Here his buyer paid 24.88€ instead of 1€,
not noticing that he was the only real bidder confronted to two shill-bidding accounts:
http://offer.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V ... 7675.l2565
Undue gain: 23.88€

That's pretty nasty. Wonder if there is a service for that as well. Probably the seller version of bid sniping.
And the seller is a she, according to the payment details

Did anyone get this one? I completely forgot about it even though I remembered the auction that morning. I planned to bid on it, but got distracted. That's where an autobidder could've helped, I guess.

If it is blue Alps, then that's a really good price, especially with its box, though the box does seem like a generic box without any real identifying features for the Northgate.
E3E wrote: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Northgate-Omnik ... 2087212839
Of course this is on a few people's wish list.
Remember, that while it's typical and common for the gold labels to have blue Alps, they can also have white Alps, so ask for a pic before you bid, or be a jerk and force the seller to give you a refund and return it after bidding without knowing.
Though maybe the seller won't reveal a switch. Then it'd become a tricky situation!

I'd have gone for it if it were in a better condition, but it was pretty dirty. Not a bad price, though

Yeah, it is looking a bit sepia. I think the box just gets me, even if it is generic. It would've been cool to have a Northgate in its box, even if it didn't have any identifying features.

A relatively unusual Model F.

Not super rare as far as I know, but it's nifty.
