If anyone bought this Industrial PC on eBay for the keyboard and doesn't necessarily want the industrial PC, please PM me as I would like the Industrial PC.

I missed the auction and this was a great find.

I'm fairly certain that I tore one of those apart for its components while working at an out of warranty server maintenance company... :?

They're fairly decent, but they're so common it can't be hard to find a few in the wild xD .

Whups, got the two "rare model m" variants confused. It even says it in the Ebay listing :?

I dunno, even at that price I would probably pass. It's a nasty one!

Anyone know if this French WYSE board is worth anything? Looks really good, no yellowing or shine to it whatsoever. Interested in for them vintage blacks and I think it is from the 80's but I'm not sure because I couldn't find it on the wiki.

$30 is a fair price for a Wyse in that condition, I think.

How can you tell? I did a little bit of reading but they are so similar I had a hard time finding what exactly sets French and Belgian layouts apart.

Searching for "Belgian keyboard layout" and picking the FIRST hit I found this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AZERTY#Di ... Y_keyboard

Seriously ...

I know Belgians can be pretty, let's say stubborn, with their language, so can anyone confirm a silly hypothesis of mine - I expect that in Bruxelles, in public libraries let's say, they have either two keyboards per workstation or they have designated Flemish and Walloon workstations.

In Switzerland we just have one layout. Although a lot of my friends from the Freanch speaking part just by French layout and similarly for Ticino.

I wonder why this (in case it is so) would be considered anything else than normal.
After all, there's a reason why there are different keyboard layouts depending on the language.
And I see nothing stubborn in wanting to use the layout best adapted to one's needs.

Either you misunderstood me, or my message came out wrong. I certainly didn't mean to imply that there's something illogical or wrong in it. In fact it quite logical and rational. When I'm switching between ANSI and ISO-HR layouts it can be annoying as fuck, and they are, I think, more similar.

However, it is not "normal" in a sense that most other countries, communities, what-have-you, don't have a need for this. Bruxelles is pedantically bilingual, and it's interesting to see how that affects, among other things, such mundane things as keyboard use in public and especially government institutions. The "stubborn" remark has been applied to Belgian politics as a whole, and not this particular issue.

Most obvious and annoying differences are the += on the 1st row is Belgium 4th row and 0@ is 2@.
But frankly if you have those two all other differences are already memorized by users!

Again, I see nothing "pedantic" in people wanting to use their own language.
Or what would you suggest? Giving up French for Dutch, or rather Dutch for French?
