Seems like it's going to be 15 retail price and 13,50 pre-prder price.
Including the new mold DT key and the new mold diamond mods.
Any feedback on the price? Mockup in the OP
I'm too thick to glance TEH DIEMONDS in the OP. Halp me out man! Gimme gimme!
I must subject them to my critique.

Oh there's no GMK render yet! We/I have to supply artwort first I guess.
I wouldn't wanna have them make a render if the price isn't good enough.

Price is totally alright!

Epic, Wodan. I'm definitely in for both sets.
FWIW I love the huge GMK #~ key. I'm all for it. Let's do this shit.

Yes, the price is right. I just really wanna see those renders. There's a right way to do a diamond…

Hmkay thanks for the feedback guys. Will bug 7bit for some artwork. I guess he's the pro when it comes to artwork. The way he's done the DT and the diamond keys are what I was thinking of.

Matteo is the pro. He did the definitive DT art. Bet he knows how to do an HHKB diamond, too. Try him first!

Oh yeah I keep forgetting he walks amongst us. Granite then?

Don't say that to him! He's tired to death of people asking for repeat performances of his Sergeant Pepper!

Soo ... matt3o instantly offered his help and is currently searching his computer for the design files.
I also had some more talks with GMK and refined the planned process for this GB a little more. As a first step I will get a production slot for the keycaps and pay for the first 150 sets of each kit in advance. This is when the GB starts and people can order at the GB price. This will run for 4 weeks, at that point GMK will need the final order count for each kit to plan production. Should I have sold more than 150 sets of any kit, I will probably up the order for that kit to something 250+
Once the final production numbers are fixed with GMK, I will raise the price slightly for further orders. Once I receive the keycaps, I will sell them at the "retail" price.
At the time we fix order quantities with GMK there might be a price drop should we reach 250 sets of a kit. Everyone who ordered at that time will then automatically get the NEXT TIER GB price. Paid orders will get a partial refund!
I hope that's not too complicated. But this way we can save a production slot very early and still have the flexibility to raise the order count when enough people participate. There should also be no "trust" issue if I pay everything in advance, proof will be posted here.
CHECK THE OP FOR PRICES AND A TIMELINE!

good to see that things are well underway
I just think that the GB should run a bit more than the 4 weeks to ensure maximum supporters at the beggining. Also, we should start thinking about spreading the word throughout the community, not only GH/Reddit but also the chinese/korean boards, as it already happened in recent GBs and which resulted in drastically increased number of orders
(I can get in touch with some chinese vendors friends as well)
EDIT: I'm still a bit sad to see that the DT cap isn't included the base HADapter kit, because that's the one people will buy more and should be on it as this is a DT organized group-buy.

by Wodan
I am considering offering the DT cap as an optional add-on purchase. Should be something like 1,50-2,00€ a piece and anyone excited enough can add one or more to his order
Unfortunately, the 4 weeks period isn't my idea but is given by GMK. They need the final order numbers 4 weeks after payment so they can finalize their production planning. We will see how well this concept works but as far as I can tell it's the best way for a fast fulfillment while still keeping the order numbers open until the last moment. GMK said the production/shipment should then happen just 4-6 weeks after finalizing the kit numbers - try to beat that

Since the options for the modifiers are kinda meh ... I will ask for a rhombus/hhkb key and see what the price will be.
When I see this, I kind of regret that it lacks a Tab key, as it could be a great modifier kit to go with any set of alphas (for anyone who wants a split right shift and 1u backspace, which is my case). I understand that it may detract from the HADapter idea, but as it stands that one missing keycaps makes all the difference between "eh, it looks cool" and "I need one"

I'm sure you can easily find people here who are willing to sell you doubleshot tab keys for cheap
We already had someone wishing for a ISO-Return key and he got one from a fellow community member.
I'm so full of ... ideas

... for the next round! I so want this to be a success!

If I can get a Tab key in the right color/hue, I'll probably get both sets without second thought then

Is an start date already set?
Posted: 27 May 2016, 17:30

Start date heavily depends on GMK now.
Got the designs from matt3o today and forwarded them to GMK. Once this has been converted to a render and the render went through community inspection here, we're pretty much set.

Are the diamonds solid (as on Round 5) or are they outline chevrons (as the real HHKB)?
You can already tell which I want.

Pictured on a Realforce, similar to how I'll use these on MX, but that cap's authentic HHKB.

Here's the reference for symbol keycaps for me:
I was asking for centered diamonds though, similair to the windows logo and the menu key from GMK and similair to the Granite version.
Posted: 27 May 2016, 17:45
by Muirium
Alignment should be consistent. Are the other mods you're making horizontally centred? Granite was thorough about that.
Posted: 27 May 2016, 17:50
by Wodan
They're meant to replace the windows keys so I would want them to be aligned like the windows logo.
They will not have the upper-left alignment of other, larger GMK symbol keys though.
The 1.25u keys just look a little barfy with off-center symbols I think. They're just not large enough for neat alignment ...

by Muirium
Windows keys aren't something I ever have to deal with! I'm much more interested in visual consistency within this set than with caps I either don't have or were tossed in the trash when I got the board.

by Wodan
Let's wait for the render and discuss

then. I like the aesthetics of centered icons with the doubleshot windows and menu key - no matter what icon it is. You'd probably be mixing those diamond keys with the menu key that's centered so I'm looking for consistency in the bottom row.
Posted: 27 May 2016, 18:22
by Muirium
Menu key? No, that's another I'm aiming to replace with this set.
This is how I use a 1.25 unit bottom row:
No Windows or Menu keys. It's Control - Option - Command - Space - Command - Option - Fn - Control.
I don't mind platform neutral stuff like the HHKB's chevons, etc. But Menu means nothing on my platform so I have no use for it. And, as you mentioned, it's an ugly duckling thanks to Microsoft's preciousness about their logo branding.

Hm it's a very, very difficult question ... The modern way to go would be centered legends like Granite and new GMK molds.
The classic thing to do would be Cherry-style upper-left aligned icons like the Amiga A-icon.
Funny thing about Cherry icons is the pad printed old-windows logo. While the windows logo is centered, the corresponding menu icon is very off center.
Would love to hear more opinions here. Should we be doing more rounds of these kits, I am planning to nag GMK into creating more new modifier keys and I need to have a clear concept for that.
A personal favourite of mine would be doubleshot Amiga-A mods ... They are left aligned
Posted: 27 May 2016, 20:21
by Muirium
Yes, I want all these left aligned, like the cylindrical alphas they're going with. I'm certainly not mixing them with Granite.
And yes, I want a red Amiga doubleshot for the bottom row. It's got a spot all lined up already!

Did you intentionally set the red Amiga A as header image to mess with my mind???

It's missing half the keys I would want in an ideal world (ANSI-HHKB, 7u bottom row, stepped caps) but I think I would do anything for the beige shift/short right shift+fn and hhkb backspace combo already.
