Is that the super light topre board? Like 30g or something, right? That's really neat!

I think they are 35g but yeah still -- very light

JUKI keyboards were the lightest data entry keyboards made by Topre. They are 25g uniform.

If that's a bit rich, there's another 75% topre up for sale @ ~15$ currently + shipping.

It's like an archetype of vintage classic computer.

If they shipped to Canada, I'd be all over that. It's a great early example in good shape.

I've been looking for a KB106DE for a while but that is too rich for my blood. Though, I guess the hope of getting one for under $200 now is long gone.

To whoever just outbid me:
I'm going to bid it up once more to drive your price up, and then leave it at that. Maybe you saw this, maybe you didn't.

Relax XMIT. That's a lot of $$$ for an old Topre.

Yeah, that's why I didn't bid it way up. One of these went for 300 USD on eBay this week.
This has been a "back burner" board for about two years now. I'll pick it up if it comes along cheaply, and drive the price up a little if someone snipes it away out of frustration, but I won't bid it way up.
Besides, I should focus my energies on becoming a net exporter of keyboards, not a net importers. One only needs so many 1390131s in their life. Once things settle down a little I'll start re-cataloging and figuring out which boards can go.
Also geekhack is down, I was going to go there to see if I was trying to battle someone there for this board. Ah well.

That's just mean, if you don't want it for that price just leave it else you're only benefiting the seller.

Well, I bid it up to about $256, which both was my actual limit on that board, and I knew would be less than the winning amount. There was that small chance that I'd get it for $256 so it's not /entirely/ wasteful bidding. Just mostly. But I would have gladly paid $256 if that were the winning amount (though I was really hoping for 22222 JPY).
I /will/ be really disappointed if someone found the board from this post, saw that I was bidding on it, and outbid me.
My guess is that someone more local got it. Ah well. Better luck next year.

The SGI bigfoot keyboard is a pretty interesting one though, because it's a PS/2 keyboard with Alps cream damped. Not too many of those around really, so if you want to try that out an SGI bigfoot is probably your best bet.

I wouldn't say they're "very common", they don't come up for sale that often on eBay and I don't think the price is that bad. You have to remember that a plain old Dell AT102W will rarely sell for less than £35 on eBay in the UK. I'm not sure how much this differs in the US though. What would you consider a good price for one?

I was seriously considering that Nissho keyboard as I am in love with Topre and Hi Pro, and want to try 35g.
I would have "bought it now" but as the seller won't even confirm if it works, I couldn't justify risking CAD $500 on a keyboard that might not even work.
To whoever bought it, could you please post your thoughts on it on the feeling and sound of the keyboard.

taylorswiftttttt wrote: You completely missed the point. SGIs are very common, and the one linked didn't have a good price.
Perhaps the SGI bigfoot isn't to your taste, but it still qualifies as 'interesting'. They are not so common - how many are on eBay right now? And they do usually sell for between $50 - $80 - check sold listings.

I have one. If you already have a HiPro Topre then the NISSHO doesn't really bring much new to the table. One thing I've noticed about the HiPro is that they feel lighter and more linear than an equivalent weight standard Topre switch, so the 35g, and especially the JUKI boards, feel very 'airy'.

This is expensive, but from what I can tell, SMK spring over membrane is not that common.

Does anyone know anything more about the switch?

Yes. It's terrible! Linear, kind of mushy and meh feeling. elecplus had a bunch of these.

That appears to be the internal keyboard mechanism for this:
