This was someone who picked it up at a thrift store and is trying to flip it. I found it on local Craigslist and posted locally but now it's up on eBay.
.

I had made inquiries about it on Craigslist. The seller also has other vintage computer items so we'll see what happens.

I posted about this item two pages before. It's a historical specimen that lacks a speaker grille. Maybe the earliest SSK known so far.

Very nice guy, first cool keyboard I've seen in my area!

EDIT: in 'my' area, not the area.

Yes! I'll probably bid on that one, seems like a good deal and first Model F AT for me.
Unless someone else wants it? I don't want to start a bid war...

@j0d1 hope you can get it, they're very nice. I recently ANSI(ish)-modded mine, but its original controller is fried and needs an xwhatsit..

Probably a beamspring? Its listed as a terminal keyboard and has a beamspring(y) look. $30 starting bid with 0 bids. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nice-Vintage-Ra ... 1438.l2649

AEK II with a $25 starting bid and currently 0 bids. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-APPLE-E ... 1438.l2649

Two F XT's with low bid prices so far. Second one doesnt have its badge and either a chunk of the plastic broken off or its just stained.

No definitely not a beamspring. Aside from the obvious appearance of the switches, these are soldered in. Beamsprings are modular and installed over a PCB full of capacitive sensing pads.

Looks like old Futabas, but perhaps someone with more experience can ID what type of switches they are. :-)

Thanks for pointing out the difference. :) If the switches arent worth it then maybe at least the caps are worth salvaging.

Here is also a Sun Type 4 keyboard with C3 Computer Systems branding. Apparently its NIB(or somewhere around that quality) government surplus. The wiki doesnt have a page for it and there arent pics of the switches on the listing so it could be anything from fujitsu rubber domes like the Type 5 or some kind fujitsu mechanical switch.

Cool, thanks :) Do you think it would be worth grabbing? I dont really know a lot about foam and foil switches other than that the foam can deteriorate over time.

Think Sun is a custom protocol, specific (expensive) adapter needed. It looks like ADB but is custom to Sun.

Sun keyboards used a serial protocol. TMK has support for the protocol.

From what I understand that's some special rare SSK prototype, that final price is pretty high even for SSK's in that average condition.

That's right, and if a NIB one would show up I guarantee you it would go well over $1000.

Apart from here and GH I doubt anyone would know the likely early build date of this thing, and I didn't see a thread over there - so who here got it?
