Some Zenith board that looks awfully similar to this but has a different name: wiki/Zenith_Supersport_SX

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable of Zenith lore can elucidate to us the story behind this.

I thought I had one of these. I don't know what "elucidate" means but I can tell you I have a Zenith TurbosPORT with matching keyboard (keyboard is in the auction). Look here for internal pics: wiki/Zenith_TurbosPORT_386

It uses the Alps common mount low profile switches. I'll have to take it out and check key feel. Sadly, I'm missing the power supply for the laptop so I haven't explored the computer much yet and given it some good use.

Do you think its possible to convert it at all? The cable is pretty trashed but the seller says "All functions and keys are working properly" for whatever that's worth.

If it's in PRINT, then it's worth it's weight in GOLD to you, if anything different arrives to your front door.

Yeah, but is it really worth the price to buy a keyboard taken off a laptop unit with switches that, from what I've seen in these forums, aren't well-liked by anyone? You're better off looking for Alps SKCM boards.


Oh BTW - here's a very inexpensive Space Invaders board (The Caps Lock isn't stepped, but this should still be mechanical based on key cap profile and FCC ID, and it's got unique key caps with Word Perfect colours on the mods): http://www.ebay.com/itm/222616085028/

The Chyron will probably be KT F&F. The Zenith is listed as NOS, but definitely isn't, so beware.

It says 89. Part of the 9 has worn off.

The oval pill label was not around in 1985. Also the ID number would not start with a 5 if this were truly an early board.

Look carefully, the sticker says 05DEC89, 1989-12-05, referring to the wiki, this puts it squarely in the middle of the "second generation".

A 1985 vintage board would also have had a square logo, not an oval one.

You're right, it was a nine. Oval badge was a dead giveaway though haha, I stand corrected.
