Yes it is still open. I am ordering extra keyboards so you will be able to order for the early bird round while supplies last (I will let everyone know when I run out of the extra keyboards - then the orders will go to the final round). The final round should close later this year, I am not sure when.

Will the factory keep all case and key molds after production or will you get them afterwards? Or do molds wear down? Mostly asking about the keycaps since they could probably be used for custom keysets if there is enough interest.

I received the powdercoating samples today and they live up to IBM's quality and color. I have just approved all of these colors with the factory so they will start the powdercoating soon! Next week is a major holiday in China so they might start Monday 10/10.

I own all the molds, but they do wear out. This project has taken about two long years and the final round in a few months will be it for production. I do not expect to do any custom key sets in the coming months unless there is significant interest - several dozen sets at least. One suggestion was to do an IBM Selectric style font on these keys. I would be up for that.

This may have been mentioned at some point, but what about hammers? Anyone got a source on those?

I made all new molds on the flippers/hammers and barrels. Production finished on all of them and there are thousands boxed up and waiting to be assembled at the factory. Since January I have been typing on prototype F62/F77s with the new barrels and flippers. All components of the keyboard are brand new.

Hey Ellipse,
I am moving soon and wondering if it is possible to change the shipping adres? I don't know how locked in the production specs are but is it possible to change the color of the keyboard?

by Ellipse
Yes just send me a PM for your address and color change.

I believe the plan is to manufacture all new keys, including the entire blank black set, so the short shift shouldn't be limited to unicomps stock anymore.

Yep that's right. Black blank right shifts and short right shifts will be available.

I also found out a likely explanation for the shininess of Unicomp's black keys. They may have been made not with PBT plastic but with ABS, which tends to shine after a while, or another type of resin. PBT plastic is not a good match for pad printing according to some pad printers I've spoken with.

My unprinted black keys will be PBT so they will not have those issues. I also looked into pad printing black ABS keys from my molds but there was no interest so I am not going forward with that.

Great! Ellipse if i want to order à french layout in beige and à spare black blank set i just add it in the accessory? Also i Guess thé ssk indus keyset is only for ansi layout or is it adapted to the international layout we order?

What is exactly the 6 HHKB set addon in the Extra Set of Brand New Production XT-quality one-piece keys page?
If I order extra blank black set on this page to my normal international layout ISO French, will I receive all the corresponding keys to my ISO FR but in black blanks?

Note that you should change the shop option for black blanks then, it's very confusing to choose black blank when it's specified no right split shift is included.

Cheers

Ellipse, I cannot resist anymore and I just fell for the call of the F sirens. I just ordered a regular F62 with black powdercoating with black blanks in ISO vertical with right split shift. Can you confirm you can do split right shift with ISO vertical enter?

Posted: 03 Oct 2016, 13:29
by Ellipse
Great! Yes I can do split right and split left shift with iso.

The industrial SSK set is available in the original english legends only.

To get the HHKB set please order the HHKB key set store item. The HHKB option is the only way to get the short right shift.

The short right shift is alternatively included when you select hhkb layout if you are getting the ansi layout.

Yes to order a spare blank set please add that store item to the cart.

I checked your order and you will need to order the HHKB key set if you want the split right shift. Please note that you want the black unprinted hhkb set. You can place another order and choose free local pickup to avoid paying extra shipping charges.

Thanks! Please configure my F62 with split right shift, and split backspace key (so 1 will have two 1u black blanks instead of the backspace) then. Is it OK?
I just ordered the HHKB keyset, with industrial keyset. Please add them to my order.
How will you remember to configure my layout correctly? Hope this is not too confusing!
Also can you confirm my special serial number is available?

Orpheo your serial was taken back in April. Please PM me some other choices for your serial.

Pff very weak German performance, just barely beating Sweden. Wonder if ALH is part of the US orders or that single HR order ...

Maybe the Germans still love their Cherry Keyboards far above anyone else :D .

I'm curious as to how many keyboards individuals are ordering. Most are probably going for one, but who out there's ordering 3-4+?

Starting today I am offering the full 104 key set with all keys in Industrial SSK blue. The legends will likely be the standard legends for all the keys (or maybe standard legends and the 12 Industrial SSK keys being their custom legends on the Industrial SSK).

For those interested in a set please order a printed or blank pearl/pebble set and specify "Industrial SSK Blue color" in the notes section. http://www.modelfkeyboards.com/product/ ... iece-keys/

For now I'm going to offer it at the same price as a regular set.
