You will be better off if you find the parts an have a specialist build the wheels

Didn't ride in the snow as far as I can recall, but under pretty bad rains without any trouble. The brake pads suck under the rain though. I've yet to find good brakes for bad conditions.

If I had the time to do that I'd have the time to build the wheel as well.

I'm not treating my bicycle too well - just enough love perhaps, but it just works for me.

I'm a full time bike commuter, don't own a car, got myself a used and abused 2012 Marin Ravenna dirt cheap ($300 USD) and daily it. Figured if I'm going to ride everywhere, may as well make it something nice. Only real issue is the paint on it is garbage, you can see the chipping all over the seat tube and on the other side it's chipped\cracked even worse. No frame cracking though, already verified it's just the paint.

Nice bike. I try to use my bike as much as I can, in the winter it's not so practical sometimes for certain routes. Strange how I live in Europe and ride an American bike and use old American keyboards...

I have those Schwalbe Marathon tires on one of my bikes as well. They add a bit of weight, but I have yet to have a flat on them and they seem to wear forever.

Edit: just noticed those are Supremes. i have the Plus.

Yeah those are pretty good tires, I rode that pair for years!

It must be a bliss to be able to cycling around the Alps all the time.
Cycling, photography, and computer stuff - there is a challenge to bring all three areas together. Let me suggest: mount a glimbal on the bicycle, or let a drone follows you, with a bicycle upgraded with a power-meter - then these three can be brought together more closely.

Amazing how you find the same bike abandoned in so many different places!

My Trek FX3 that I use to get around campus. I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to bicycles but I do enjoy riding.

I'm not knowledgeable in bicycles either, but I learned that I should not assume them to be like our other computer-informed fellows, e.g. when they talk or ask things related to:

Me: I have one at home, I use it to test my components, it's actually multi-function. But how do I use it in this case?

Anyone have folding bike recommendations? I have to regularly use the NYC subway and I can't bring a full sized cycle on it. It is not allowed during rush hour, but more importantly it is impossible to fit on a packed rush hour train.

Thanks. Rest assured that picture was a few feet from the gravel trail I was riding on. Had to pretty much carry the bike for the picture lol. It pretty much only sees pavement or gravel.

A foldable electric kick scooter seems to fit your bill, at around $300.
I would recommend a bicycle instead of a kick scooter if one has to walk / travel 3+ km or uphill. But this advice comes from where I live: a country with dedicated bicycle lands and more respected / carefully observed cyclist right-of-way. I know riding on the road in London or NYC can be quite a bit crazier.

I prefer a bike because I would use it on the weekend as well, not just for commuting. I used to cycle every day until I moved to the NYC metro area were having a big bike in a walk-up is not the best thing in terms of space and usability. And yah cycling in NYC is living life on the edge, cars and pedestrians both will assert themselves into your right of way and expect you to get out of their path on your path.

The joy is the greatest thing about getting on the bike for a ride! But lots of times after a while I also do hate it and think why am I doing this. Coming back home later I think that it was great, so up to the next ride

Are tyres the keycaps of cycling? Discovering #whatpressureyouarerunning and tyre size it could be like that. Also who reads the Bikesnob? Is Jan Heine the Ken Rockwell of cycling?

I started riding again in May 2016 after a car accident and continued to do so last year.

Used to own a trekking bike Trek 7700 but last year I sold it after I broke a couple of ribs on a "smoothline" downhill track. I bought a Scott Aspect 910 mountain bike as a replacement and so far I'm very happy with it. The area around the town where I live is all hills and lots of gravel roads and footpaths so ideal for MTB.

I used to race at the amateur level (Cat 3). Still love to ride up and down mountains...
