I didn't realize people like these keyboards. I have a few of these and I think I have one of these in the box but it came in the Macintosh 128k box. For Mac collectors, my box is cooler

All joking aside, any original box is cool so thanks for digging up this thread. People convert these for use today? Interesting.

Good find Nacho! If you like linears you are going to love this board!
First of all you remove the external spring by disengaging the end that goes though the slider.
Then you need to open the switch, pry the two flat sides apart being very careful not to overdo it, they break easily.
After you open the switch, just remove the wire and the brown piece and reassemble.
If you need any pics of the procedure let me know, I have the switch loose in front of me!
And I need to get back to converting mine!

snuci, they have deliciously smooth linears, and the layout is almost HHKB, so you can see the appeal!

After cleaning/lubing mine, it feels smooth as better. Absolutely love it.

The box you have is for the M0110A keyboard that was in an upgrade kit (as it mentions). The part number threw me off but it was an offical part (the upgrade Kit) even though it was an M0110A keyboard. The difference between the M0110 and M0110A was the addition of a numeric keypad. Someone must have upgraded and therefore swapped keyboards because it looks like you have the M0110A styrofoam. You got the better keyboard (in my view).

I already have the cable going to the Teensy soldered to the PCB (I used some existing points, since I didnt want to have an external thing outside of the board) and it the Teensy should arrive today. Then I only need to figure out, how to get the firmware built, but I guess I will do that on a VM, since all command line business is a pain on Windows

I think that's just my picture, the space bar being quite yellowed. But I may be wrong since I have never seen a platinum M0110A in person. Here are some more pictures of my M0110:

That's odd. Your pictures in the Wiki look fine. If you search for "M0110A Platinum" of Google, you should be able to find some pictures. You can then see how I was mistaken.

Now for the black key switch, I should check mine. I'll let you know what I find.

Another vote for integrated TMK. The M0110 is such a character, you don't want to mess it up. And there's not much to be won by hand wiring. Blue Alps aren't just going to drop right in there… or are they?

Nah. Honestly, I've got one too, and any thoughts of significant mods disappeared once I opened it up and tried it. It's as loud as a Model F, in its way, yet the visual style is a weird mix of friendly and prehistoric! So 1984, so Macintosh. And the layout's not bad either. The HHKB copied it for good reason.

Alright, thanks to the Teensy firmware and chzels tutorial on how to unlatch the latching switch thing, I can report, that I am typing this from a USB converted M0110 now. I now need to figure out something good looking for the USB connector, and I need to get used to having control on the caps lock position, since that makes the most sense concerning the available keys.

Did the firmware side of things have any special difficulty?
I'll probably treat it as a winkeyless and do it as Ctrl-Alt-Space-Alt-Fn.
Not really a fan of Control up there.

The problem is, the two option keys can only do the same thing, atleast acoording to the keymap editor. I used this one, so maybe if you take a look at it yourself, it is easier to understand, than it would be with me trying to describe it.

Are you using the Opts as Fn?

I have ALTR-GUI-SPACE-FN-ALTR. When I put FN on the option keys, I get some strange latching going on, which I was too lazy to investigate yesterday night.

Was the latching behaviour when alt+tabbing? RALT acts like a latch when using it to alt+tab, I ran into the same issue when I was messing around with alternate keymaps.

Otherwise it could be something on the firmware side; my AAK caps lock acts as a latch despite not being a latching switch. I tried remapping it to control and ended up with a latching control which isn't super useful...

Nope, its the FN that is latching, when I use the right option key for it. Which is why I currently use them as ALTS, where they work just fine.

I'm using the TMK firmware on my M0110 and my newly modded SKCC non-lock. This is a lovely keyboard, very comfortable with a unique typing sound. Trust me, you're gonna love it. I love mine so much that I'm considering buying another one to use at work.
