I just noticed this but are there holes for the two leds that the phantom allows you to use for caps and scroll lock?

No, but you can use in-switch LEDs.

This might seem like a dumb question, but where can I get the screws/bolts that are usually used for these kind of cases/plates?

4-40 screws, and you can use any standoffs you want. 3/8 inch works well.
like http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-40-X-1-4-SCRE ... 589b61e34c and http://www.ebay.com/itm/Raf-2057-440-B- ... 3cedbaac00

I can't figure how those post would work. do you think something like this might work as well? http://www.mcmaster.com/#93121a340/=yohe6j

Those posts have holes on both sides for the screws. As far as I can tell it would end up being kinda like the thing you linked to but I guess the problem will be that if those screws you posted fit through the case holes then they won't provide any kind of stability. The posts from my quote are bigger than the screws that fit through the hole so they stop the plates from moving.

This makes me think of a question: Are the screw holes tapered to fit a tapered head screw? Or should I be looking at pan heads?

Posted: 01 Sep 2015, 05:46
by Bbrotha
Oh yes, got it now, they'll definitely provide more stability as you will have two screws on it. I guess an aluminum feet like the ones from gon are needed to provide a better grip to the surface or some kind of stoppers to avoid movement.

Is it possible to get the CAD files? I'd like to design an acrylic center section instead of using bolts.

Why not both? Cut an hexagonal hole through your center layers to fit the spacer into, then secure the top and bottom to the middle through those. It'd provide a very sturdy mount since the layers can't shift at all and they're being clamped from both sides.

Those McMaster binding posts linked above look like a decent solution also.

They are not tapered.
