I have Tai Hao mx set iirc...
How does their cubic profile compares to SP DCS profile? I also prefer the FAME profile - I think the Chinese (who created so many different new profiles for the mx market) can help but the market can be too small to make it profitable
This article I found compares Cubics to Cherry and OEM.
TLDR: OEM profile with Cherry-like sculpting, with larger font on the alphas.
DCS are somewhere between OEM and Cherry profile.
https://www.keychatter.com/2017/06/29/f ... c-profile/
The majority of old non-Apple Alps SKCM keyboards boards used OEM profile.
Hmm…

“Cubic” at back, Cherry in front.
Not doing it for me.

Those are the OEM keys, the Cubics are the white ones in the comparison pictures.

Right you are! I linked the wrong pic. This is the right one:
Pretty similar story in terms of extra height. (Without actually using it to bring some character, like SA.) I’m no fan of OEM profile either, no surprise.

Thanks for the links, the profile comparison helps me to see why I was not so excited about my (either in storage or sold) TaoHao sets back in a few years apart from the limited layout support
Now with the extended layout support it can become a compromised option, but after all it is just personal preference

OEM is my preference (ordered 2 of the vintage grey set), and they are going on boards that had OEM profile to begin with so I am excited for this buy. Any new products bringing back the Alps platform back from the dead would get my support anyway even if it wasn't my preference.

International / NorDe (I mostly just care for German though) Alp Keycaps would be pretty lit, I agree.
This Cubic profile doesn't suit me either, the font looks off and I fear the edge is too sharp so I'd get stuck on it while tpying - OG Cherry and DCS have nice radii imho.

Cherry profile is the dog’s bollocks. (Despite what it sounds, this is in fact a good thing.) DCS not so much, but yes it’s all ultimately down to taste.

Any updates on production?

I would love it if
Akko made some of their better looking ASA keycaps available for Alps SCKM/SKCLs. Their Chocolate ASA set
https://en.akkogear.com/product/chocola ... et-178-key would look smoking on a beige keyboard.

I can agree with that.
I finally went back to Matias switches, and went with the Tai-Hao Cubics not out of a specific preference, but because they're about the best-available for new-stock Alps caps. They look like what you'd get if you asked someone in 1989 to draw what a keyboard would look like in 1994-- same basic cylindrical look, slightly tighter corners everywhere.
It goes with the overall look of my board, but I'd be lying to claim I didn't covet the shiny spherical AFSA caps on the MX-compatible board sitting in my office. I've used a couple of Akko's sets too, and they're excellent choices, although they wear a little fast for something advertised as PBT. OTOH, I do like taller caps.

crosspost here: wont fit either iso dell or iso focus boards, the mount of the enter is in the middle were as dell and focus use a slight shift.
