if you're using something that extensively uses the escape key (like vi/vim/etc.) you would want to swap that escape key with capslock on the standard layout (easy software solution). but with your layout, capslock (the placeholder key that now and then reminds you to remap it... xD) is tiny and/or in a awkward position for that.

if you don't (want) to use vi that's fine i guess - dunnoh of any other program that uses escape as much as it. it's part of the posix standard and thus available on every unix-like system though.

The plan for this keyboard is to have something like a Raspberry Pi or Beagle Bone Black inside, so I don't feel compelled to imitate any particular layout that would be expected for a Mac or PC. That said, I want it to have all the keys that a standard tenkeyless keyboard would, so it could be used for an external system and be full-featured.

I want to use Signature Plastics SA profile keycaps, so this version has been adjusted to only have sizes that are available according to their PDF. I am prepared to use blank caps if I have to to keep costs down, but of course I would rather use doubleshots.

Caps Lock, Num Lock, Arrow Lock, Ins, and Power would be latching switches, with LEDs. There would need to be a compatibility mode for Ins to support the standard behavior for that key in Windows, and I acknoledge that the latching would be problematic in that case.

I will post some layer charts over the next few days.
