A M15 here, I'm posting it since the seller seems to know its value:

Nice finds! I wouldn't mind one of them for a Matias conversion, but 7bit has my wallet…

I don't think Matias switches fit in the M0110. They use vintage Alps that are larger, and with cross-shaped stems.

Ah, of course, I forgot the funny stems. Just thought they'd be Alps mount. Thanks for the warning about switch size, too. That's new to me. My Matias switch HHKB plan will have to find another route!

No-one's been able to confirm this, but Alps CM and clone switches should actually fit the M0110 PCB — it's the plate where you may have the trouble (notwithstanding the need for new keycaps), and I imagine you're more likely to want to keep the plate and replace the PCB with wire and diodes.

Correct! The plate incompatibility *and* ditto for the caps are both major breeches in the hull of my little boat of a metaphor. I'd rather hand wire an NKRO matrix around the original switches now instead, though I hear they're so-so.

hmm, I sort of assumed Alps mount == Alps mount, are switches with the 'standard' rectangular stems interchangeable normally, or is that uncertain too ? I've seen pictures of people refitting their Dell AT-101's with Matias switches and I hope that is not just them being lucky ?

But ... it's AZERTY! I mean I live near the french border and all, et il y a beaucoup des choses francaises que j'aime, mais AZERTY, c'est vraiment un peu trop... You really want that?

I can type on blanks, so I can type on AZERTY. So long as they're good on the eye! It's that chunky 80s Apple ISO Return I don't like. It's news to me that Apple even did ISO back then. I've a later UK keyboard that is refreshingly ANSI. Mind, it's an Apple Keyboard II, so that's really the only good thing about it. Got it with a free (broken) SE/30, but I doubt it was the fancy Mac's original board.

Alps-mount switches have a slider with a slot inside. The peg inside the keycap fits into this slot. However, some Alps switches have a peg inside the slot, and the keycap has a matching slot inside the peg! The most common switch with this characteristic is the [wiki]Alps low-profile oval slider[/wiki].

However, the Apple M0110 uses [wiki]Alps vintage tee mount[/wiki] switches, which are the precursor to Alps CM switches. The [wiki]switchplate[/wiki] concept—a press-together sandwich assembly with a copper foil membrane—was introduced (so far as we know) with the tee mount switch (it's not clear whether the foil membrane approach was used by Alps or Futaba first). So far as I can tell, the PCB holes for the switchplate are identical between both switch families.

Alps CM and tee mount are otherwise quite different: different shell, slider, and keycap mount and the keycaps are not in any way interchangeable. For starters, one is a negative mount (peg into slot) and the other is positive (slot over peg) so you can't even slice bits off to make it fit.

What I don't know, is whether the plate hole dimensions are the same. Probably not.

It anyone here wins this, rock the keys to and fro to remove them. Not left and right. Some of the keys seem to have bent stems already but you can straighten them but do not try to straighten them with the key caps attached as you can break a key caps mount point! From the 4th picture it looks like the rubber contamination shield (Canadian made beam spring) will need to be removed which isn't that much of a project.

If it smells try putting it in the same container with ground coffee (pre-brewing).

Note I might be bidding. Though I am wrestling with guilt of potentially owning two beam springs ;)

Oh don't worry, two isn't anything; I own three and none have USB controllers :P .
