SP doesn't have Topre tooling. Could be lack of demand considering Topre has no industry presence in the US.
the topre keymount is patented afaik

there is that too. patents don't last forever though, so I didn't comment on that possibility since that switch style has been around a while

The way patent laws are twisted don't bet on it

R4 hasn't finished yet, but there is an interest check on GH to rerun just the Retro R4 caps, but only as ANSI and TKL. Curious what fellow R4 participants think of this? My only thought was "what a bunch of impatient asshats." As if sets won't start showing up in market/classifed at inflated prices once R4 concludes. Or am I not seeing the bigger picture?

i think there is no problem, because they put it on hold till this group buy is done. at least they are waiting for a reply from 7bit before they proceed.
Still waiting on 7bit. As soon as I hear from him I am going to start the GB.

The only reason they are on "hold" is they need 7bit's permission to use his legends. The lad trying to rerun it didn't know he needed permission at first. I think the guy's attitude about it is what pisses me off, like he's entitled to it. Or how I perceive GB mentalities in general these days. /rant

LOL, yeah.

These GB organizers should remember that the people ordering in R4 paid for legend fees, tooling etc.
Therefore, it would seem fair to me if they could include a small fee to help cover 7bit's money loss.

What makes you think I spent the money for key caps?

Just go ahead!
Almost everything is sold out, so no problem for me if you start a new group buy.

When did Germans start being so nice? I swear the last time I was in Warszawa (Poland), the locals talked up how you guys were evil pricks!
It must come from having such a sexy Chancellor.

Anyway, hopefully R4 pops before their GB gets run (If only to make the 100 or so orders of the RETRO kit feel better)

pretty sure the percentual amount of pricks in germany is quite the same as in every other country. same goes for the percentages of nice guys.

I added a couple white on yellow 1.25x mods to my (paid) order. The amount due is 1.62, but the invoice says
"Please order more to make it worth to do another payment!!!!"
Only problem is I'm not sure there's much of anything left that I could use.

If you get this message, just don't pay.
The reason is that it would be too expensive to pay such a small amount by PayPal.

Payment/"shipping" update
Post-post-Closing/Leftovers/??? payment from bnp70kr (2013-04-02,yy-mm-dd) has been received and marked as shipped for PP (although we all know that we are looking at SP finishing the production mid February 2013 (read: never), then caps being shipped for sorting, then shipped to their final destination, i.e. you). That is to avoid PP account lock ups, that they like to do. Invoices may or may not reflect the change, but they will. Please keep in mind I only account for payments made to me via paypal.
Note: Addresses on the Paypal invoices are not the addresses 7bit uses to ship your keycaps to. He uses whatever address that is listed on your invoice.

You're quite the optimist.

why does SP delay this continuously... it's not a huge order for them but they ought to have established a deadline from the get-go instead of a whenever, floating due date.
e: this is more of an observation not a complaint, most have waited longer than I have for R4

Not a huge order? I'm quite sure it is the hugest ever!
It is not so much the quantity of key caps, but the quantity of different size/row/legend/color combinations.
BTW: Rumors say, they already shipped them ...
