Sorry for repeating myself, but no one answered with all the pirating discussion going around.
Could anyone answer the questions I had below? Thanks!
nightcracker wrote: I'll probably go for the MX-mini, but I still have a few questions.
1. What color is the acrylic case that comes with it? Is it transparent or?
2. What is the exact layout of the buttons? I've seen multiple 75% layouts out there, and I don't know which one it is:

3. If it's the first layout, does this mean I can just order keycaps from any standard place, like WASDkeyboards?
4. If I get the pcb, case and switches/keycaps, all I need is a USB cable and I'd be ready to go, right?
5. Is a plate recommended for the 75%? Does it change visuals in any way?

Ok thanks!
But can anyone describe a little more about the controller and software for it? You can't use custom firmware like hasu's?
What can the firmware do? And whats the real difference between 32u4 and this one(32u?)?
Sincerely

tinnie, both boards support the iso layout right? Also that software to program the keyboard will it work on linux?
Posted: 17 Jul 2014, 12:03

Being made in flash, it should work from any OS/flash-enabled-browser. However, if you want to make sure you can actually run that program *when* you want it (i.e. from your computer), you can try to make a locally saved copy of the bootMapper page. From Linux:
Code: Select all
$ mkdir keyboards
$ cd keyboards
$ wget -r -t 0 -k http://boot.winkeyless.kr/bootMapper/
$ chromium boot.winkeyless.kr/bootMapper/index.html

Yes, both boards support ISO layout. And I'm not sure about the second question.

You install VirtualBox (it's free and it's a great piece of software), create a Virtual Machine, drop a Windows on it and you are free to go. Such a thing is handy for all sort of things, I have one for iPhone and iPad, and you need it only when you create the layout. It's a small sacrifice for a custom board
But maybe there is also a way to do it under Linux.

Get both, if don't like one you can always sell it, there is a market for these at any time

Before this GB I would have killed to get one at this price

Is there a metal plate planned for the mx-mini? since its a bit bigger than the faceU won't the acrylic plate bend more easily?

75% layouts are always that bad. 60% is a clean cut from standard layout. 75% is a mash. Compromise, you has it!

I mean't wasdkeyboards? maybe i misunderstood the answer?lol

wasdkeyboards doesn't sell 1.75u shifts as far as I know. Actually I've never seen an OEM profile 1.75u shift.

Yeah i have too much to learn, i don't know the main sizes of the function keys, for example, what's the size of the space bar for these boards?
Posted: 17 Jul 2014, 15:16
by scottc
WASD sell blank keycaps that work as shifts, but they're poor-quality thin ABS.

Posted: 17 Jul 2014, 15:18
by Nuum
Oh, yeah, you are right. Last time I checked they didn't have these. I think on the MX-MiniU you can either have a 7u or 6u spacebar, maybe even a 6.25u one. On the FaceU you can have a 6.25u one or a 7u one.

Tai-Hao has it. But WASD caps are bad. But caps are not a problem, there will always be a GB around.

Yes I want to work on that, but I need the PCB to be sure that everything is working correctly.

I assume something like this would be compatible with the faceU?

How much to aluminium cases go around for? these look great.
Posted: 17 Jul 2014, 16:20
by Madhias
There was a cheap aluminium group buy organized from pexon - it's called the "
60$ 60% case". Maybe not that high quality like from TEX, but a cheap aluminium case. You could try to get one, since a lot of people cancelled there orders - or just one big order was cancelled, if i remember correctly.
Also there's
an acrylic 60% case from TEX right now at Massdrop. Also looks nice, but no aluminium.
