I'm participating in the Phantom group buy Over on geekhack, and the plates were around $22. Ultimately, the cost will depend on how many people are buying at the time.

will the controller chip be directly on the board or will it require a Teensy?
I really hope for a onboard controller.

I will take care of this project once Round 4 shipped. I can't do too many things at once.

OK, I am waiting with tension.

Yeah we need something "small".

Like maybe:

2x function row,
1 full numpad sized cluster on left and 2 on right
main cluster
and multi-touch screen with scroll wheel and 2 buttons... Over the right most numpad...

Hmm might need tad refining, but should aim to around

150 keys, take or leave a couple...

Just bringing this back up:

I was in class and someone only had a keyboard. That made me remember how convenient it would be to have just one keyboard with a track point and mouse clickers.

I want my middle mouse button too, most annoying thing with touch-pads is lack of it....

7bit, now I know what I want, what I need! Please add an option for a Realforce 91 key bottom row! That's 1.5x/1x/1.5x/1.5x/3.5x/1.5x/1.5x/1.5x/1x/1.5x I think.

Or well, I'd be happy with just that super-small-but-not-too-super-small spacebar size. Is this possible, will it be or could it be? :)

Only problem: 3.5 units space bar.

Perhaps a 4x space? Anything tiny but not too tiny would be amazing.

So they have every possible size in the whole world but 3.5x? How amusing.

I wonder if it would be better with a 4x or a 3x spacebar then... Probably a 4x one.

Huh, that's true. I wonder where I thought wrong here... Maybe the spacebar is smaller than I'd thought? Ugh, I'll have to look at this again after a cup of coffee. :)

4 units is perfect when you want to use spherical key caps.

Do you've got a picture of the keyboard in question?

I believe that would be the row in question.

Although, looking at it now. The spacebar seems to be more like a 2x.

Very nice keyboard. If I ever buy a Topre, this would be it!

150+100+150+150+250+150+150+150+100+150
1500

It is a 2.5 units space bar, which is available in SA-family ...
... and DCS-family!

The stabilisers for it are suitable for 2 to 2.75 units, so a wide variety of key caps would fit (blank 2.25 units key for example).

I can add the necessary mount points for switches, no problem.

Ah, of course! Thought 2.5x sounded way too small, but it seems enough for me at least. :>

Will be neat to be able to make a keyboard in a semi-crazy layout, so thanks 7bit! (I wonder if I should do a regular JIS layout or some crazy ANSI hybrid. This will be fun)

Will have to use SP keycaps again though, but I guess it's worth it.

Haha, thanks! :>

Got a bit fired up myself actually... Yesterday morning I thought about how nice it probably would be to have more thumb keys. 12 hours later Filco released a new keyboard which looked a bit like what I wanted, but wasn't quite right really. Then, this morning, I just happened to realize that I had seen a great bottom row somewhere; on the Japanese Realforces! Now, I'm having crazily crazy keyboard layout thoughts. The possibilities suddenly seem endless! :)

But the Hyper* keyboards will be programmable! Think of the warranties you will be voiding to mod a Realforce!

Since I couldn't celebrate carnival this year I had to spend the weekend at home instead of going out with my friends
But in the end I guess the time saved was very productive, as my SuperHyperMicro or whatever it'll be called prototype is now fully functional - Yippeah

The trackpoint and all features of my previous firmware work fine, still missing is a detachable cable, but I need to find the USB mini socket in my electronic parts box first. As keys I chose mainly clears with o-rings for this one, as I am already used to blacks but would like to try a tactile version - the next board will feature red MX then.
Clears for the masses, and Blacks for thumb keys

For finishing touches I'll have to dye some more shift and tab keys, and I plan on giving this a more classic look with a wooden "casing".

So far, typing is astonishingly comfortable, but I'll see how it fares in everyday work the next days before posting a more in-depth look at it.

Amazing! No idea how you did it but hopefully one day I would be able to design my own! A wondrous 40% keyboard!

Small right-shift? Why not small left one like in ISO? Those Japanese are weird at times...

I agree with you there. Switch the shift to ISO style, keep the bottom row.
