HONEY/TKL is enough.
Although Keycool 87 has an unique space bar, you cannot replace your space bar even if you buy a 6.25 units spacebar.

Some newer Keycool 87 can use a SP Universal Spacebar.

Where does it have stabilizer mounts?

http://deskthority.net/wiki/Space_bar#6 ... m_apart.29
says 6.25 units "One center mount and two mounts 2.25 units (~43mm) left and right of the center"

http://deskthority.net/wiki/Space_by_ke ... 5_units.29
says 6.5 units "122mm wide, 3 mounts, 42.5mm? apart "

Wait. Inconsistency between these

AFAIK the older Keycool's from like a year ago have stems compatible with FC500R/FC700R, but the recent one's are the same as Filco's but with additional stems.

No my failure. There is not even a wiki entry for this keyboard!

Maybe, someone who owns such a keyboard should change this.

I do and I did. The space bar has a standard 6.25 width, but on the older model, the mounts are 42,5 mm from each other.

One last thing before I order, is it possible to get a 1.75x R4 shift key? (Pure shift)

Apologies if this was asked before but...

HONEY/TKLISOBASE/BLACK

...shows all keys as Row 3 on the graphic. Is this a typo?

Nope, those mods really are all row 3. (A current limitation in Signature Plastics' molds for SA.) The white alphas are proper profiles, but that kit is mods only.

The thing I don't understand about mod is that if the profile is not the same as the Alpha, wouldn't the modded keyboard look odd with different profiles in each row? I'm not OCD but even then I find it hard to imagine a keyboard with different profiles, making it like a jagged, uneven piece.

Which is why I like that 7bit created a black/TKL or red/TKL which are all row 3. I can appreciate a flat keyboard. Maybe I'm thinking it wrong but I now see 3 different TKL sets instead of black and red TKL being a mod of the standard honey TKL.

Wait, so are the modifiers on HONEY/TKL *not* the proper rows as suggested by that graphic?

Hello! I've got a Truly Ergonomic Keyboard ("TEK" as some refer to it I guess?) and I'm hoping to get in on this group buy, but I'm not sure what the "profile" is on my keys, and if any of the modifiers might be compatible.

I know I'm definitely out of luck with regards to the center keys (Delete, Tab, BS, and Enter) because they are unique to the TEK, but I'm curious if any of these keys would fit the TEK's space bars, cursors, modifiers, Escape, and so on.

My Shift, Control, and Alt keys are exactly two regular keys wide. The space bars are about the same, but they come out at a weird angle.

Any other TEK owners in here? Can anyone help me out with some advice? Thanks!

The post about the spherical group buy on GeekHack brought me here. This is my first post here. I've been wanting spherical keys for a while now. I will definitely be getting HONEY/ALPHA at the least, and maybe more if the profile and sizes are right.

Honey/TKL is in the proper row as suggested in the graphic (I *hope* I'm right) which is why I said I'm puzzled by the modifiers being all row 3 because if you care about the proper profiles, then why do you need those mod kits?

Yeah this makes no sense to me. Really need clarification so i know what to order.

In theory, yes.

I think I will add some SHIFTs as single keys ...
Muirium wrote:Nope, those mods really are all row 3. (A current limitation in Signature Plastics' molds for SA.) The white alphas are proper profiles, but that kit is mods only.
No, this is my own limitation.

RED and BLACK are all row 3 and the rest is the normal way, with the exceptiopn of 1.25, 2.25, and 2.75 units keys, which do not exists in any other row.

In Round 4, all blue keys where in row 3 (with a few exceptions, like cursor keys) and there looks nothing wrong!

But I will add a poll soon, if red and black keys shpuld have curved profile or not.

Welcome to DT!
:-)

The keys will be totally incompatible to the existing keys, because they are higher. You need to swap all keys to make sure it looks right. For key-sizes, posting a photo of your keyboard would be helpful.

The only keys whoch are 'wrong' are those in the 2 bottom rows.

Space bars are usually row 3, so if the keys left and roight of it are too, there is no problem. Also, they are usually typed with the thumb, so are nicer this way as if they where row 4.

Because there don't exist 1.25, 2.25 and 2.75 units row 4 keys, all regular shifts need to be in row 3. There exists 1.5, 1.75 and 2 units in row 2, so I could offer these as single keys in row 4 for people who don't need the other sizes.

TAB, BACK SPACE, \| and the 2 units BACK SPACE from row 1 are all the correct profile. Same for numpad keys and same for the 6 keys above the cursor block.

The exception are F1-F12, PRINT, SCROLL LOCK and PAUSE which are row 3. Dirge suggested to make them row 1, to get them higher up.

To me, it does not look odd to have row 3 modifiers in the 2 bottom rows, your kilometrage may vary.

Okay, so, then to clarify:

All the keys in HONEY/TKL that are contained in RED/BLACK/GREY HONEY/TKLISOBASE are actually row 3, right?

Individual row 4 unusually sized SHIFT keys sounds great to me. I'll get them in addition to row 3. Which looks like this on Round 4 SPH alongside row profiled alphas:
Image
It's fine when you use it. The bigger problem is the incorrectly sized keys:
Image
That custom keyboard is one of my targets for Round 5. This is my plan, with rows marked:

Note the ghostly left SHIFT: that's one of the missing sizes 7bit's talking about. 2.25u is only available in row 3. The red labelled keys are ones I'm still hunting for. A FUNCTION or LAYER labelled CAPS LOCK, a 1.25u ENTER or COMPOSE and a row 4 single unit FUN key.

Thanks for putting this in FAQ. This graphic creates a huge clarity for me. I suppose the TKL white/grey is the same as above except that I should ignore the Numpad columns, right?

Right!
:-)

Tab and Backspace \| etc in row 2 are important for the look, but bottom row mods and Shift keys don't good odd row 3.

I think I will add TAB, BACK SPACE and \| row 2 replacements for Round 4 spahericals.

FUNCTION was already in the HONEY/MODEXTRA175 kit. Added the stepped version.
ENTER added to HONEY/MODEXTRA125.
I will update the graphics later.

Depending on the poll result, I will change the FUNCTION kits.

You take off the space bar and measure the distance between center and keymounts (central). The older one has distances of 42.5 mm, the newer one of 50 mm between center and each of the outer mounts.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but will replacement modifiers of the correct size for the round 4 SPH style be in this group buy? Is there an option to buy just the function keys from the main cluster in the honeywell style?

I haven't been in the thread in a few days, and gosh what much have happend already.
Thanks for HONEY/FUNCTION2/RED. But I would like a HOME in that set aswell. if it's possible?
EDIT: @7bit I will order tomorrow :D

EDIT2:
What do you think of this for the Ducky g2pro? I'm just uncertain that the modifiers are 1.25 and spacebar will fit. The seller said his filco space fitted well on that keyboard. Why i'm asking is because I haven't received it yet...
