I've never done a DIY keyboard before, but this seems like a fun project. I'd probably be down for one, especially if plates are offered as well. (I'm personally interested in the HYPERMINI/ANSIWIN layout)

More on page 6 and 7. Basically HHKB layout with the unused space on the bottom row filled out with extra keys and with a split space bar.

I still need a source for the scroll wheel!

The 'Silent Spinners' are way over-priced/hyped... The industrial mesh is the way to go, too bad I can't find them anywhere anymore.

I must pretend that when mouse wheels where a new thing I always thought of what I see when I follow your link ....
The first time ever I used a scroll wheel was with the RollerMouse....

Just off the top of my head, it might be neat to integrate a volume knob with one of these bad boys

IP68 <-----
The wheels in the other links look nicer.
What I would love to get is the original RollerMouse Free2 scroll wheel, or at least a smooth one.

I like the Logitech ones, but they won't be selling these as spare parts I presume.

Because there have been so many suggestions for the HyperMicro layout: how likely is it that the layout in the OP (with 1 and 1.5 keys only) is made available in the group buy?
I'm about to order the Retro DSA keys and would get a set for the Micro, too.

Will these layouts be supported?

I have a couple of them (complete mx-mice) and I am going to use it on something fun soon

Yes, anything which is like matrix layout is no problem PCB-wise.
Just requires a special mount plate which micht be a bit more expensive than a regular one.
In the Phantom group buy, we had a lot of special plates which where not much more expensive than the regular ones, so should be not too much of a problem.

Here is my HyperNano:
AdNW base alpha layers
Extra chars, navigation & numblock
To see the navigation layer in full unicode glory, copy the following text - urls with unicode do not seem to work well
Code: Select all

@ ⇞::1.5 € ⇤::1 [ ↑::1 ] ⇥::1 # ⇟::1 __::2 ! ß::1 < 7::1 > 8::1 = 9::1 & ä::1.5$$

Will this layout be possible?

Yes. Just don't solder any switches in.
Hint: No keyboard in sight.

I don't get it.

When clicking on the link, no keyboard layout is visible. So I assume the easiest way to have a keyboard without any keys on it is just to obtain a PCB and leave the switches away.

150+100+150+600+150+100+100+150 should be possible.

I rather fancy 125+125+125+625+125+125+125+125 then.

You can also have 100+...+100 (15 times).
