Zulios, the 1,25 and 1,75 units shifts are included in the standard set but I believe for the rest of those keys you'll need to order an aditional language set for french layouts, you can find it in the wiki:
http://deskthority.net/wiki/Doubleshot_ ... _layout.29
If I'm correct your order should look like this:
*/STANDARD
*/SPACE
*/LRET
*/FR
Damn you steelseries for messing up those layouts *shakes fist*

I'm sorry but I had to cancel a Spherical kit. The keyboard it was aimed at doesn't worth it.
I sent
SPH/STANDARD 0
SPH/FR 0
SPH/SPACE 0
without puting again the email adress
hope that's ok

Thanks Lamaboi, ordered that already

Actually I'm concerned about the micro/star key (µ*) that is usually located on the row below AZERTY and stuff. On the 6gv2, it is moved one row lower, shortening the shift size.
Since I'm taking 4 out of the 5 ROUND3/FR sets ordered currently, I wonder if that key might be added in it. Would be of great help to me.
@rouston : that should work fine. But I'm pretty sure you'll find a board worth it at some point and will regret that move

Everyday you change your order you receive a mail. Just try it, if it doesn't work you can still ask for help.

Looking at the pictured sets from the wiki page I'd say there's allready a µ* key for the 4th and 3rd row in the FR kit, no need to worry then. Matching shift keys are in the STD set.
*edit*
Ah yes, it got updated, didn't notice it before.

As shown on the photo below, its layout is unusual even for FR freaks :
Is there something you can do about it ?
The UK layout also deviates much further from the standard than the US one. I'll see if I can find a picture of one somewhere.
Until I read this thread, I didn't realise that Steelseries keyboards with a US layout only deviate slightly from the ANSI standard. I'm actually quite liking what they've done. They've basically made the enter key larger at the expense of a smaller right shift key. I mostly use left shift (possibly because I'm left handed) so that seems like a good swap to me.

Thank you 7bit, that's some efficient work
7bit wrote:ps: should the '2' be in the upper-section of the key cap?
If you mean the "square" key (top left), it's usually located on the bottom since you don't need to press shift in order to get it. The photo shows a weird placement.
@Grasshopper : Actually I tend to like that layout also. At first I thought it would be a pain, but it doesn't change much, looks original and having a BIGASS return key is much more useful since it's used all the time. I'm right handed but I always use the left shift as well anyway.

Here's a picture of the UK version of the 6gv2.
For some bizarre reason known only to Steelseries, they've swapped the #~ key with the less often used `¬| key. If I ever bought one and wanted to fit custom keycaps, I'd be tempted to swap those keys back to their correct positions by internally rewiring the keyboard.
I notice they've also put the £ symbol on two keys, which is even more weird.

Would have been more logical to have £ on L or P.

I need some help to decide which spherical keys should be from row 3 and whoich should be from their native row.
All alnum and punctuation keys should be from their specific row (1-4). Some modifiers do not exist in the rows where they would be needed.
Also, the space bars are all from row 3, so bottom modifiers would be better from row 3 too. As a side-effect, they would be more thumb-friendly.
I recommend to do all fuction keys in row 3, because they are usually not touch typed anyway and it would allow more flexibility.
2 units keys are not available in row 1 anyway, so row 3 is the best choice for them.
What about cursor keys? I'd prefer them from row 4, but on the other hand, they are kind of function keys.
Because we will save some function keys, I could add both variants.
Another question would be what to do with the numpad?

you could add r4 keys with 1.75 r_shift or make an additional set
and add a r1 1,75 backspace

So there are almost no R1s?

7bit, do you maybe know how the mounting stems are placed on the LRET key?
Is it anything similar to the this one:

[WAY TOO BIG IMAGE OF AN L-SHAPE RETURN KEY]

Mine is more beautiful!
I expect it to be like that.
BTW, iMav never took pictures of these and nobody told me if they turned out well.
Better ask squarebox, Garry or Peter (@geekhack).

What a bummer, won't fit a 6gv2... Oh well, I'll bite the bullet then and just buy a Leopold FC200RT/AB and readjust the order for a tenkeyless set.

I had a look at my return key on the 6gv2 and it's even weirder, one of the mounts being a long white plastic tube

Better warn the other owners that they should forget about getting replacement caps for that board, or the return key might simply not fit indeed !
-- edit --
Thanks for the info lamaboi, I almost got screwed on that one. Not 7bit's fault I have to mention. I'll make sure not to choose steelseries next time I need a board.

The Steelseries Return key appears to be a 2.25 units return plus a 1.5 units key.
Why not stick with the normal ANSI Return plus a dummy 1.5 units key or maybe replace that stabiliser with a switch?

That's a solution, I'll have to think about it. Thanks 7bit

I'm surely not geekish enough... but those spericals are sooo

I think they'd fit one of'em roundish Leopold cases quite well
And besides that, the only thing standing in the way is my poor wallet :<

You can sell your wallet because you won't need it anymore. Then, nothing is standing in your way to key-caps heaven!

You only need:
DELETE, END, NEXT for row 1, minus for row 2, plus for row 3 and slashed zero for row 4.
Or are the other keys missing?

Hi, i have a 6gv2 with a german layout.
The enter key looks like this:

Posted: 13 Dec 2011, 19:45
by Lamaboi
That's exctly how mine looks too:

The quality of those caps is utter shit. I've had to request replacements from SteelSeries support, there were 'kind enough' to send me up to 20 keys of choice while I only covered shipping of 5$. Ofcourse from the 20 keys that I've ordered half wasn't even the ones that I wanted...
Besides the lettering infill soaking in all kinds of shit, the ABS itself seems to be of low quality too, had to replace 3 keys after six months of use on the WASD cluster because of broken stems. The boards itself is imho great, build like a tank with the unfortunate exception of the caps.
By now I'd just rather get tkl leopold instead + tkl sph for cheapskates : P

I recommend to use the 2.25 units Return key which comes with all of the Standard kits.
Try to fit a switch on the position where that useless white thingy is, or just put a blank 1.5 units key on it.
BTW: The key caps on you keyboards are just to protect the switches until you place real key caps on them!
