I am interested in the "Euro PC FKD46AK108 Pale Blue ALP Switches AT" if it isn't one of the yellow-brown ones, and the shipped price to germany is okay. (sniped by Blaise ;) )
Actually you can have it if you want. They aren't Alps they are SMK blues.

The bottom row on that g81 is off-center right?

I never seen a g81 3000 keyboard with a not offcentered bottom row. Thin and thick pbt, sadly all off centered (stem on the right side of the keycap like in this post:

Oh I did not know that. But we don't really know about the switches right?
I forgot that I actually happened upon the manufacturer awhile back. It's a Pravetz. It was reviewed here.

https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=54013.0
No, it's neither Pravetz, nor EC.
You can see the "CM 1604" logo at the upper-right corner on the front panel.
It's a Bulgarian clone of the DEC VT100 video terminal. It was used with the mainframe CM-4 (soviet PDP-11/40 clone).
I've started my computer life with these charming beasts long ago. They had a tiny black-and-green screens and caps-only layouts.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any additional photo-evidence or documentation anywhere on the web (except this page) — most of the Soviet era mainframes and their peripherals are gone now...

PS. Sorry for the late answer.

Thanks for the info solkoseryl. This is the type of discussion and information I miss around here lately. No round 5, 5a or -5b or whatever! Everything seems to be morphing to a sophisticated GH cap nap around here.

Pfft. Hater!

There's always vintage talk at DT as well. What do you want: a filter so you don't have to see people's happiness when their GBs arrive? We've been waiting years for this one.

Callin' me a hater Scotty? :D Yeah I want that filter AND a new sub forum for vintage talk only. Wait, I'm into keycaps?!? But mine are round zero, the mothership connection.

Posted: 08 Aug 2015, 14:11
by Muirium
Trouble with sub forums is you're expecting people to:
  • Know about them
  • Choose exactly which one fits their topic
  • Stay on topic throughout
  • Actually give a shit
I do none of these!

You'll need AI of some sort to purge your eyes of OfftopicRound5Thority this month. Perhaps PM 7bot about it? I suggest a simple order of Round 5a…

I'm sticking with round zero! I got nice Micro Switch and KeyTronic sphericals from my vintage mini haul that I have not posted yet. Anyway I was exaggerating slightly. The fact that we do not need a sub forum for vintage should keep me more than happy. The other way around would be a bad signal.

So... The seller either relisted it because the buyer didn't pay, or perhaps he has multiple, but I bought the one here:

Will let you all know what I find and post pics.
Yep, it did turn out to be a honeywell rubber dome exactly like what lowpoly has here:

How do you know? Considering how similair the switch looks I don't believe you until I see detail pictures of that unsaver.

All except for double wide keys have the blue Honeywell rubber dome switches. The spacebar has one of the black topped Honeywell switches which use the "H" shaped stems like the clicky version of honeywell switch that is shown here: http://deskthority.net/keyboards-f2/itt ... 11225.html

The problem with converting the rubber dome unsaver to being clicky is that the IBM caps are not compatible with that "H" shaped stem (I tried it with one of the other caps). You could swap the female stem piece and it would probably work, but it appears that the metal leaf versions are permanently on there unless you break the switch so that you can swap the female stem receptacle.

OK thanks for explaining; you know I was hoping that some unsavers would have that clicky honeywell switch across the board.

Uhhgg that's disgusting. It seems the G80/81 has been subject to more horrible case mods than any other keyboard. Says a lot about the salesvolume of that keyboard series.

I think the keyboard isn't football related, it's more a dialect/ Bayrisch culture related keyboard. Interesting, that its the first time I see a dialect style keyboard from cherry that isn't a G83 rubberdome.

In general I would say that I'm a fan of simple harlequin patterns, but oh my, is that ugly. Not in the same league as the Schumi-themed, but it ain't pretty.
