And yes, I do need those macro keys.

You guys should probably stop complaining and bitching about all those "useless" features, cause there are a lot of people out there - like me - that want and need those. Yes, I want macro keys, and yes, I want a volume control.

Some do, some don't as always. I for example hate 10KL keyboards, even my laptop has a numpad.

It's not amazing.
It's horrible.

Get a 7bit phantom :) and maybe a 3700 pad for programming macros.

The movement for "Mechanical keyboards for everyone!"
"Mechanical keyboard deserve to be in every home!"

I suppouse that more boards with macros and other gaming junk isn't too bad. We do have plenty of the more minimalist boards anyway...

Before that we need to putt matrix layout in every home and trash the archaic qwerty layout and its children (qwertz, azerty, etc…) then after mechanicals enter the show for the great final ;)

Are you saying that we need a layout like the abcdef layout? I'm down for that! haha :D

Wait...
Matrix keyboards are preferred for regular typing?
I thought that the current way on how keys where placed was because its more ergonomic...

it has to do with how typewriters worked.. way back

trax > it's the opposite of ergonomy, as qwerty is. This phenomenon of non-changing is called the "technological inertia".

They layout has been this way since the 1800's. It is kind of out of date. I don't think we will be changing anytime soon just because we already have so many keyboards and laptops with QWERTY and we are too deep to pull out.

I know qwerty isn't ergonomic, and I'm pretty sure I'll never convince a "regular" PC user to use colemak or something else...

But if matrixboards are better (even with query) I think people would be prepared to change as its not that big of a difference.

Nothing is fully ergonomic because we all have a different morphology and different uses of computers, I don't claim that matrix boards are the solution but it's a start, and IMHO bear-paws boards are a best improvement.

Colemak becomes more and more popular but it's a woodleg because it doesn't force to fix the issue of bad softwares which you can't change shortcuts as the old DSK pointed a long time ago.

In an ideal world, mech keyboards will be cheap, modulable and splittable, software editors will all stop impose shortcuts and all make open source and it will allow people to make an open licenced KB english layout created with computed stats.

Just give me a programmable illuminated MX5000 with a better split mechanism and that will be that.

And I disagree, the left, programmable keys are a very good idea. I'd like two columns of programmable keys there.
