On thing about sherry's sets, the Windows and Menu doubleshot keys just don't look right. Or is that just me and did the old cherry doubleshot bottom row look like that?

Had to go check sherry's store.

That keyboard is screaming out for a clack ;)

Wonder why he didn't get some 1 unit windows keys for that set, strange to miss them out.

As far as I know GMK doesn't have to molds for 1unit for it. I think something like that was mentioned in IvanIvanovich purple groupbuy. Can't find it right now, so you might ask Ivan about that.

better blank than that thing :P even though if you use windows you deserve it a little (just kidding guys!)

That's because Sherry got windows legends made for 1.25 unit and not 1 unit keys, I guess he only thought of stocking winkey bottom rows at first as he only got winkeyless much later.

The doubleshot 1.25 Windows and menu keys are new GMK created as Cherry always had pad print of those keys, and no they don't have those in doubleshot for any other keysize.

considering how slow they are at replying to email (if they reply) I believe that SP is the only option

Hi Matt. Is this basically matches my thread about DSA retro beige two tone?

In this case I think option 1 is the best - DSA PBT Dye-Sub from SP.
If not this, then option 3 - Standard Cherry Replica from GMK.

Colors - I suggest WCK and GAW, all people liked it there :D

Yes, those are pretty tasty. (Just needs Helvetica legends.)

Is there a sense of agreement whether this is going DSA or SA? I so want option 2, but it can wait if there's popular appetite for PBT DSA.

if we want to do most EU languages DSA/PBT would make perfect sense. That being said we had a lot of DSA lately. I totally love it and I actually prefer it to DCS, but SA would be definitely more original. Especially if we can have the 2.75u mold.

Also, DSA actually doesn't have ISO return.

If there is going to be support for either Norwegian or Swedish I will definitely be all up in this b....

Option 3, no doubt

if not, then option 1

SS an option or are we more limited? Also would you ever need PBT SA? the tops are already shiney.

In SS we miss 2 spacebars and 2.75u.

Don't know which variant 7bit used for R4, but they have gloss/matte and semi-matte top in SA family. Even though I think the only surface they have all the molds of seems "semi matte"

It is semi matte (S).

Matte would have also be an option, but I like semi matte more.

While with semi matte the 2.25 units key is missing, 1.75 units is missing for matte.

Even the J-shape return exist, just the two 6.25 and 7 units space bars are only available in my favorite surface.

sorry I lost you.

2.25 is available in semi-matte ROW3.

No, it is available in matte (rough surface). The 1.75 units key in matte is available for all rows except for row 3.

really?! is the doc wrong? http://keycapsdirect.com/pdfs/SAFamily.pdf gotta check with Melissa

by 7bit
Not sure if it is wrong, but here is what these surface options mean:
M: matte (rough)
S: semi matte (smooth, Round 4)
G: glossy (look like semi mattes used for a few days. or mattes used for a few years)

edit:
Just compared the latest version of SAFamily.pdf with the one I looked up the information (already included 6.2 and 7 units space). and found out they changed the entry for 2.25 units from matte to semi matte.
:o

well I'll check that with Melissa if we go SA.

it's more likely that the online doc is simply wrong. In that case we would have to make 2 molds

I looked at thsi Hi-Pro keyboard and I think those keys are too high. SA is definitely not for me. Mechanical keyboards are already pretty high, adding even higher keys will kill my wrists
Retro DSA we had was perfect, low profile, nice to type and beautiful to look at:)
That is why I say option 1 first, if not then option 3, standard Cherry would be nice too.
Either way, I'm in for a set

I would choose the Glossy surface finish because with PBT material the rougher it is the more it'll collect your dead skin hence the keys become quickly dirty even after using them for a few days.

With the Glossy finish no chance of your dead skin being left behind and the keys look superb even after a month of heavy usage.

Just my own personal experience, such as it is.

I would also go for Matt3o's choice 1) DSA PBT Dye-Sub from SP.

Great point on surface finishes, Elrick. I've seen some absolutely stunning glossy sphericals — originals from the 80s and earlier — which don't look nearly as heavily used as they should, because they were glossy to begin with; it's even across the board.

Anyway, high profile is not for everyone. I can get away with it easier at my standing desk.

There's definitely separate GBs needing done for PBT DSA, ABS (or PBT!?!) SA and quite possibly the Cherry option too. If democracy were in charge here, option 1 has the lead. But SA needs some sweet hot GB love!
