Was just curious is all, haven't had anything like that with other keyboards or peripherals before. Just wanted to make sure all was okay with it.
And I only type using metal gauntlets when I'm playing D&D...

Hey all. I have had my Model F for around a month now and overall I have been quite happy with the keyboard. Though I have noticed that the paint has started to chip predominantly where my hands come into contact with the keyboard either while typing or resting my hand on the side.Is this normal wear and tear for one month?
Similar story here, for mine the paint isn't chipping, but the powder coat? Has worn off and smoothed right under the Ctrl, Win, Alt keys. (Right where I rest my hand.) Just one of those things you can't avoid.

I think these cables are as retro as it gets ... they look very nice and fit just right.

Is there a European reseller, or did you order from all the way across the pond?

Right from the US source ... and yes, it was 34 EUR import tax for two cables

I received the F77 and most of the keys work correctly, with the exception of two where when the key is not installed and the spring is pressed, the keypress is sent. However when the key is installed, keypress is no longer registered.
Did anyone else run into this issue and if you did how did you go about to resolve it?

I feel like some chipped/worn paint kinda gives it character. Clearly sets it apart from the plastic cases on nearly every other board out there today.

This morning, I completed a floss mod on my ultra-compact-case F62, which I've dubbed "f62". This time, the job went much faster, because I had previously cut the floss into 15 mm pieces using a single-edged razor blade and a strip of boxwood marked with lines spaced 15 mm apart. As others have noted, this mod removes the ping while leaving the click and tactility intact.
I am also enjoying the ultra-compact case for at least three reasons: (1) size; (2) USB-C connector for a detachable cable; and (3) anodized aluminum finish that will not chip or erode as the powder coating on the full-size case seems to do.

Now I sort of wish that I had opted for the ultra-compact case on all of my new Model F boards, although I am glad to have at least one that serves as a faithful replica of the original Kishsaver.

Gaming Retro uploaded an updated video about the F77 repro after 1 year of using.
He mentions that sometime it's required to unplug the keyboard and/or reset the PC to make it work again. Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Yes, it happened to me sometimes as well (under Mac OS)... maybe once a week or so.
I didn't give it much importance though, as the keyboard is connected to a powered USB hub, so I can't be 100% sure it's the keyboard's fault.

Yeah, I swear by it, on models M and F alike.

I replied to the video that it might be the old xwhatsit firmware. Changing over to QMK or Via would possibly resolve that issue.

I'm still waiting for my order to ship but I'm no longer in the US so I'd prefer to sell it over paying international shipping.
I ordered a F77 in off white/beige with standard ANSI printed keys. Exactly what is shown in the image below except in beige.
I'm hoping to get $350 $60 less than I paid. But I'm open to all offers.
Hi there, I saw your post and would be interested to buy it off you if possible.

Do you happen to have the xwhatsit firmware on it? Maybe it is worth trying to change over QMK or VIA like Ellipse's suggested.

No, I was running QMK when I experienced the issue.
I’ve recently switched to VIA, I cannot say for sure if it happened again since.

Thanks! I tend to agree. Of course, IBM and Ellipse were the main shipbuilders. All I did was rearrange the deck chairs a bit.

Below are photos of the new Industrial SSK Blue and 60% Dark Gray key sublimated key sets installed on a new Model F keyboard.
The sublimation came out great for both of these colors. Please disregard the colors as they are not 100% accurate. In person the Industrial SSK blue is an exact match to the original IBM Industrial SSK Model M blue keys.
I especially like the combination of the black classic F77 case and the dark gray printed keys.

It has been a while since I've used my Model M boards. I don't recall much of a ping issue with them, but I will certainly listen for it the next time I add an M to my keyboard rotation. As I remember, the main downside of the M for me was the scratchiness of the switches, and I suppose the floss mod would not help with that problem.

Unfortunately this has more or less proven true for me. I don't necessarily find the Ms "scratchy", as such, but the rubber mat and membrane combo result in a significantly less satisfying immediacy to the physical feedback you get off each keystroke. It's not so much of a sharp "snap" on the M; you still get the spring buckling abruptly, but when the pivot plate hits the soft rubber blanket, it feels a bit crap compared to slamming into a solid PCB.
I'd still much rather use an M than just about anything that isn't an F, right enough! I've only tried so many switches, though.
