The windows and menu keys where printed.
The Shift keys have the arrow placed the same as on your keys.
Return with long arrow:
Here the J-ret:
Cherry legends are more consistent than SP ones, but still they have their inconsistencies. If the key caps should go with original Cherry keys, I don't think these little issues are a problem. Maybe with the exception of the one wrong Shift.

I've never seen JA 1800 though maybe it exists. I have only seen 3 JA models 3600, 11802, and some 8000 series model. I've wanted to get my hands on any JIS G80 for awhile now but they are very hard to find it seems.

Is there a reason as to why we didn't try their windowed caps? If I remember correctly, they carry them. Or was it just to keep this GB less complex? Just wondering if they are possible for GBs.

Yeah, what about dem windowed stepped caps locks?

As far as I remember they are not in because windowed caps just coming with pad printed legends....and pad printed is meh.

For the record, did Cherry have double shot windowed caps? Are those molds just lost or am I mistaken about that?

i think cherry never did triple shot

I am not sure. Some say that the window on double shots is just a triple shot. I have one such key, but for me it looks like a doubleshot with a manually drilled hole and window placed in. But maybe there are other real windowed tripleshots existing.
Maybe in future when PBT doubleshot process is advanced enough, you could have dyesubbed pbt caps being doubleshoted with a window.

Why have windowed key caps, when we can have clear legends?

YES!

Yes, I agree with this clear legends is better, but if many people want some BLANK windowed keys I don't have a problem with this.
Only doublehot + windowed keys I have seen were all 1x only.
I have some PBT dyesubbed windowed caps locks... doubleshot from old TA with I guess Polycarb.. One set is tan, has amber color window and I think it was made that way not yellowed as the inside is the same color. Other one is grey PBT with clear.

Actually, I'm not convinced that enough light from the LED will shine through the legends.
We need a photo of the keycap mounted on a switch with LED.

here's a pic from GH which i think gives an idea of doubleshottered backlight:

personally i'm looking at it as a normal daylight cap, it's about that subtle 'difference' the clear legend makes (and of course about showing off the ds goodness);

It depends on whether your switch is turned 180 or not, but it is a valid concern, I don't think it will optimal with non-rotated switches, but I still think it will work to some degree as the clear-layer inside the cap will help spread the light to the legend. Personally I don't really care as I really like the look without it even being lit.
We could maybe do a "gamer-set" that contained W, A, S, D and ESC with clear legends.

Yes it would depend if the led was on the top, or upside down switch for best result with closest to legend. Some people are really interested in making full sets, but I also agree a smaller pack to test how well it really is may be a smarter move.
I was thinking to do maybe just the lock keys, caps, num, scroll and see how it was, but WASD set could be a good idea too, maybe even do C and D row cursors for lulz.
On the other hand we see how it is on SP keys, and we know Cherry/GMK keys are not as bleedy with light since they are 3x as thick... It would probably be just fine.

I for one never quite liked back lit key caps with translucent legends because the support flanges on the inside are always visible. That is why I like windowed caps, as they usually have a smaller and more homogenous lighting. Is it possible to have it matte or semi-opaque to scatter the light more?
