Ah, that's a nice one, probably the rare-ish model that can be connected to a PC without a Soarer converter...

Looks like it's gone. Was it a "normal" SSK? How much?
Posted: 10 Nov 2015, 10:07
by Halvar
Yes, a normal ANSI SSK from 1990 with a minor scratch on the case for 180 €.

Pretty nice finds ramnes, that Televideo link is "Wanged" though.
If that seler does not sell his cards I'll try and talk him down on that Micro Switch. Looks like Honeywell Hall Effect not Micro Switch dual magnet Hall Effect. Still nice.

Thanks for the tip, I picked this up and it just came in the post today. Retrobright candidate for sure, the case is crazy yellow. Not really had much time to play with it yet as I'm at work, but it seems to be in pretty decent nick apart from that

.

I've Televideoed back the Televideo, thanks.

This is probably not the right place to post this, but since it was part of the great finds thread, I thought it might fit.
A while back, an awesome Salmon Alps AT101 popped up on eBay for really cheap:
Originally, I was just going to
steal its caps for another project, but because of feeling sentimental toward the old board, I decided that I'd instead restore it!
Full album:

The switches were in good condition, but the plate had rust specks, so I had to desolder all the switches, and then sanded off all of the rust and paint and gave it some thin coats of SEM self-etch primer in grey, since it looks a LOT like the original paint.
Then I retrobrited it with my indoor retrobrighting setup. First time I've done it (I usually use sunlight outside, but winter is coming

). It went okay, but I should have made sure to wash off the stuff and reapply every hour, but I was skeptical it was even working. I made a box that was lined with aluminum foil to give let the UV really bounce around.
So it went well. There's a few little bleached speckles because the stuff dried in spots, but eh... It's hardly noticeable!
It's a shame. I don't like Salmon Alps as much as I thought I would, haha. I don't know if I could sell it now, but these damn things to go for a lot on eBay, even nasty yellowed ones. Ehhh....

Nice list though.

I've been scared to venture the other parts of Deskthority! I'm used to the cavernous like darkness of GeekHack.
I need to go out and get some nice bright white sunshine over here!
Yeah, I'll make a proper thread for the board, but thanks for the appreciation, Seebart!

Okay these seem interesting

I talked to the buyer he says he does not know how to add a picture of the switches on ebay, maybe someone can talk to him? he says he has 11 of the first available, don't know how many from the second.

Yes very impressive find. Both look great.

Personally I don't need to see any switches but it would not hurt.

Weird stuff!
They're older than MX, so don't expect to be able to do much with those caps, mind. Back then, Cherry used much bigger mounts.
Expect these guys:

Looks MX compatible. But these are way bigger!
