Its not cheap....but its way more realistic than a 300 MOQ with GMK. A few weeks ago, Klaxon was checking with SP about a EURO-Kit in DSA profile and this was the quote:

25 sets $71.16 per set
50 sets $46.59 per set
75 sets $38.40 per set
100 sets $34.30 per set
150 sets $30.21 per set
200 sets $28.15 per set
250 sets $26.93 per set

what do you mean by "Euro kit", I also have a quote from SP and it's way higher than that, but mine includes all EU languages.

Posted: 22 May 2013, 12:16
by BimboBB
it includes DE/ES/FI/IT/NO/PT/SE/UK

pls check page 8 and 9 of this thread on GH:

That quote is unrealistic. To have full ISO support this is what I have

10 sets $235.09 per set
15 sets $166.48 per set
25 sets $111.59 per set
50 sets $70.42 per set
75 sets $56.70 per set
100 sets $49.84 per set
150 sets $42.97 per set
200 sets $39.54 per set
250 sets $37.49 per set

EDIT: oh now I see. tjcaustin's quote does not include tooling fees. Mine does.

by BimboBB
what you mean? tjcaustin states that its given with legend fee already included:
Just got word back from Melissa about the Euro kit. They don't have much of it in DSA and as such, each of those keys would be subject to a $35 legend fee. There are 33 keys that are subject to that and as such, here's the break down of cost:

25 sets $71.16 per set
50 sets $46.59 per set
75 sets $38.40 per set
100 sets $34.30 per set
150 sets $30.21 per set
200 sets $28.15 per set
250 sets $26.93 per set

edit: Maybe in yr quote you have the ISO enter tooling included. This would explain the difference.

Don't know what to say, the ISO kit was not included because I got the above quote from SP, which is insane! I guess tj's quote includes less languages

Posted: 22 May 2013, 12:48
by BimboBB
Yes, could be...dont know what languages you asked for and thats maybe the difference. But as mentioned....I still see this DSA language packs becoming reality more easier than GMK language packs. Even with these legend fees.

I dunno. A dolch DSA would be pretty successful I guess. Also what about a PBT set with dye sub'd legends? that would be cheaper for an ISO kit.

Sounds good, but dye subs made by SP aree not cheap either. I might be wrong, but there was a group buy on GH for some light blue keycaps, and I believe they went for about 100€ per set.

There is no any PBT ISO enter mould existing. I know for DSA its not existing as well, but it cost less ($3500) than the PBT companies want for and even when taking DSC enter, you can be at least sure its coming in the same colour.

The Koreans are probably already doing that.

It is bimbo they are not for anything lol.. Just on my desk and I poked them in as I didn't fit LEDs :D

Why did signature plastics not put the sprue marks at the top? Can't see most them anyway just the escape

Set as intended, however look at the arrow cluster, one grey arrow included. I need another 3 ;) (know they are not in the actual set, just really nice)

Also the spacebar is sticking and taking some getting used too, think a normal one would work better for me.

I like this last config dirge... but you should use RESTORE instead of backspace :)

I might end up with 3 light grey arrow keys... I'll let you know.

We tried to have sprue marks on the back (I should have pictures of a test SP did a while back), but at the end we decided together with SP to have standard front sprue marks.

ps: what's the problem with the spacebar?

Thanks bud appreciate it :)

The spacebar is a bit better now I've turned it the other way. Was sticking on the case, It does feel low mind, just need to get used to it.

Could anybody from Germany post how much of "Einfuhrumsatzsteuer & Zoll" they had to pay, so I can keep enough money next to the door when the package is sent.

Just got my sets at the post office, typing on them right now!
They look absolutely gorgous! It may take me some time to get used to the new shape, but that's not a surprise.

All my sets are complete, except for the Alpha-kit. I'm missing the 1.5units \| key. Who should I PM with that issue matt3o or samwisekoi, or both?
(Btw, if there are some leftover brown mod-kits, I'd like to snag one of those too, so maybe, if I'm lucky, the missing key could be shipped together with those. But we will see once everybody got their sets.)

I had to pay no Einfuhrzoll or Zoll, so maybe you are lucky too and won't be a victim of customs shenanigans. Never give up hope!

Upsi, I almost forgot the picture update:

Again, thanks to matt3o and samwisekoi for starting this GB, and ofc to all people who helped sorting and packing and such!

We are not yet completely sure who should care about the missing keys for EU. I'll let Sam know about your missing key but probably I'll get a big box of leftovers shortly and handle the production hiccups from here.

Depends on how much value Samwisekoi declared yr package and than it will be 19% of it.

Got today the letter that my one waiting currently at customs.

What spacebar is that?

Posted: 24 May 2013, 00:19

The original, the GB did not have one that was the right length
I plan on cutting down a 7-unit to fit, not sure about how the finish is going to be, but I will use my CNC mill to do the cuts, like I did with the rest of the board... I ordered several spacebars so I could experiment :P
