Interesting read. I'm typing on Cherries right now, in fact.

I’d like to type on Cherry M84s someday. I have a bag of the buggers—little low profile linears with perfect MX mount compatibility—but have still to see about making a PCB for a custom board. They don’t plate mount. No lugs, just PCB.

Always struck me they’d make a nice low profile, silent mobile board. And now I’m used to my HHKB being Bluetooth, I’ve got that in mind for them too. Lot of work though. Won’t be my first project.

I'm not a huge fan of M8 switches personally. I have the wiki/Avid_Mechanical_User_Interface and they just feel kinda squishy (but not nearly as bad as membrane, mind). Perhaps my opinion would change on a full size board though.

Perhaps. Your instinct could well be right, though. As I’ve been let down by switches that feel great individually before. The infamous Mitsumi miniatures come all too readily to mind! A whore in the kitchen and a cook in the bedroom, so to speak, and none too exaggerated!

The big reveal when I read that article was that it was founded in Illinois. I never knew that tidbit.

Same. My family is actually from that area originally, I am wondering which restaurant's basement the company was founded in specifically.
