I would like to have a way to make the board display small images. My Macbook has been frozen for minutes trying to display the thread... It's old but I doubt that people with iPads or the like have it better...

Well i am not alone

My old (2003) internet station powerbook froze too on this thread, nice pictures but way too big on this thread. It's not the OP's fault, just the page became too big to load and display...

I put the pictures into Spoilers, because of this displaying problems.

I also didn't find a way to just display small previews in this board.
The same thread at GeekHack is unproblematic!

That way I would have to create thumbnails by myself for every picture?
I thought about something automatic like geekhack has it...

For starters people shouldn't upload raw camera pictures.

A high resolution is the only chance to really see the condition, but I agree that the pictures should be included in a better way in this thread...
EDIT: (did a little test)
When I do a full reload of this thread on my old secondary machine, the thread loads fast - it get's slow when I open the spoilers, not before...
If it is the only good solution, I will create thumbnails for all photos manually and link the originals.
Hoped for a better solution...

Phpbb doesn't support something more sophisticated at this point.

I started to change the posts, but if I add thumbnails and just link them to the big pictures uploaded in the forum, the forum software starts to add the full size pictures at the end of the post... Can I do anything against that???
Just look into the thread (first post) and you see what I mean...

Hmm the board has a setting to don't show image attachments inline (just as links), but it would affect the whole board, also in posts where this behavior is wanted.

So it is just impossible to upload images into this forum without adding them directly and in full size into the thread?

Not with the current settings, unless there's a trick I missed.

Me, my pics are mostly 1024 in width, never a problem.

I deleted the attachements from the first post.
Do they remain uploaded in the forum? Until now the links seem to work...

Not sure... do you see them in User Control Panel -> Overview -> Manage attachments?

Ok, I did it now without using the attachement function of the board.
Could the ones with problems please try my thread again if it is fast now?

Remember doing a server reload (Ctrl+F5)...

First deleted cookies and emptied cache.
Then started the thread: loaded instantly.
Opened spoilers: they contain thumbnails.
Klicked on thumbnails: high-res pictures shown in new tab.

Much work, but the result is good! =)
