modernised G80-3000, now in TKL !

They dropped the ISO layout, added RGB, put the switches in the wrong direction and did some funky stuff with the layout.
But, and it's a huge but for me, this is a plateless keyboard, it's exactly what's so great about Cherry in the first place, not only because of the feel, but because the modding ability/serviceability. That's the one point other manufacturers have not been able to do well (if at all) in the last 30 years.
Which is why I think this is a step in the right direction. Despite seemingly being a gamer keyboard sugarcoated to appeal to vintage nerds like us, this has some good bases, and I'm really interested in what this could potentially end up being. It could easily be fixed by a single pcb, and become one of the best custom keyboards, as it would be the only
truly pcb-mounted custom. I'm really excited to see something like this!

Bad looks, ugly font, uncompliant legends, ANSI layout for no actual reason, ¿and possibly forcing a national layout onto the keyboard itself?... the whole works of a cheap-ass gamer-y keyboard.
And yet, the thing that strikes me the most is "CHERRY button for instant access to software information and the CHERRY website". A key (between Esc and F1 with no separation, to boot) that will take the user to web pages full of propaganda is definitely not a good addition.

This might be in the right direction but the G4mer keycaps is something that would keep me away from buying this. Looks like they are trying but we shall see what the future of keyboards holds for Cherry.

Honestly, the only thing I have a serious disgust with is the font. Use something classy

the caps aren't a problem, really, I assume most people have good mx caps they could use on it if it were to suit them
and as for the Cherry cap, that is a very way of putting things, I have to admit, but I think this is just commercial bs to sell their Cherry utility software which is used to control RGB. this is to be expected on a gam3r board

Yes, but that key's placement is surprisingly idiotic. Even Logitech does it better:

I actually agree with you for once, this key would have been better in the middle of F12 and Print Screen, no questions asked. It would have been trendy even ! (see these recent keyboards :
KFE and
Jane V2 CE)
note that the asymmetric placement of the key on the exemple you brought up is absolute despiseful though

No disagreement here, either!
The real problem in that Logitech board (besides the presence of a "Logitech key" in the first place, of course) is that the separations between each block is smaller than 0,25U... a distance that IS kept between each of the key groups between Esc and the Logitech key and between said row and the alpha and nav blocks.

it kind of does actually :
the front and side are very reminiscent of the G80-3000 :
EDIT : or at least that's what I think they meant by "Classis Design"

*coff* The product code is actually G80-
3830 for the non-backlit and G80-
3831 for the backlit.
I noticed how much it resembles the
"MX-Board 8.0". That one has almost identical keycaps (except that Caps Lock and Scroll Lock have now got proper windows) and 0.25u spacing between key groups.
Indeed, the Cherry button should have been placed in-between F12 and PrtScr: then there would have been 0.25u spacing throughout.
Edit: Omitting the Cherry key and using 0.5u spacing throughout would have been even more classic though.
There is no reason to have a dedicated Cherry key if you have a Fn key!!

I don't like it anymore. It just looks like any $20 Chinese gamer keyboard now.
I really like the old G80 cases because they actually looked like a classic keyboard.
Why can't we have any modern fullsize cheap mech keyboards without any "gamer" or backlit BS?

The shape of the case edges i like. Other than that, why would i buy this over a good old filco? Excluding unicorn piss LEDs everywhere.

PBT Doubleshot (for the non-RGB version at least), JST connector for the cable, good old PCB mount, no screws, NKRO, etc at a reasonable ~66€ !
I'm definitely showing much enthusiasm because it's how I think we should react to the nice progress from cherry, which have been tone-deaf for years by now..

Well, that particular unit IS a English (USA) keyboard, which can be expected to be ANSI.
How will they handle other national layouts in general remains to be seen.

There are only US-ANSI and Korean ANSI in the datasheet linked in the OP.

Indeed, but (AFAIK) Cherry hasn't said "these are the only varieties we'll be producing in this line of keyboards". If they indeed have, that does change things.

Yes, but that key's placement is surprisingly idiotic. Even Logitech does it better:
I disagree, with the placement like this there's just an additional key available while the whole FN row stays the same. The way Logitech did it shifted the whole FN row to the left.
I quite like it, PCB mount switches with diodes in every switch, grey case available and Cherry stabilizers. Let's see when it gets available.

... but it keeps a separation between each cluster. In the new Cherry
keebs, you'll be forever risking the starting up a
http://www.cherry.com/stupid-propaganda/ browser window when you meant to cancel whatever current action or calling a program's built-in help.

A certain
other company has it so that each and every time you plug in one of its keebs or mouses, a window asking to install their software pops up.

The tkl cherry keyboards have been available for a long time, probably five years, but I've never seen them in iso... Maybe we should run a group buy, since I don't see this thing changing soon

I got mine today. It's a nice board. OG G80-3000s have a 1u gap between ESC and F1 so the Cherry key is in the right spot, and the software allows it to be reprogrammed (the Cherry.cn link doesn't seem to work and Cherry-world doesn't list the product, but they have the uglier MX Board 1.0 TKL listing has a link to software).
A slightly larger bezel would make it even nicer, but the stock keycaps are Cherry profile with decent legends (so totally usable and better than any other gaming TKLs).
The modern browns feel great and it's just so cute. It's made in China, but the build quality matches or beats anything else Cherry has made in the last 20 years.
The only problem is that despite being ANSI only(?) I had to proxy it through Superbuy to get it one to the US. It was only affordable ($65) because it was shipped along side some other junk, but if you're making an order it's a great entry board for friends or family.

I ordered mine on Taobao through a 'Taobao agent' (a proxy).
If you want to buy/trade for mine let me know, I bought it on a whim (tested the software and put in back in the box). If I place another Taobao order I'll probably buy another one anyway.
And I wonder why I'm broke

Thanks for your offer, but I'm in Germany, so shipping costs would probably kill the idea of buying it from you.

Yeah, I just checked and shipping USPS first class international would be $39 (both if it was shipped in the original box with bubble wrap inside of a larger box and if it was shipped in
just the original box).
If you can order from anywhere in Europe I'm sure that would be significantly cheaper, but if you are really desperate I'd be happy to sell it for $65 + shipping.
Edit: I just noticed your profile pic is a Marquadt Mini Ergo. Have you tried one in person? I think mine looks really cool, but I feel like the seperation angle is a little extreme.
