I like this idea. ^^
We tend to go for bright and flashy a lot. Something subdued and subtle would be nice. The image below caught my eye the other day; brown and dark red look great together:

Your brown and red is very close to BBC micro mate.
I put a post in the workshop forum called cherry manuals or similar. Product information with lots of vintage cherry pics. The 1982 catalogue has a lot of examples.
I think a beige moogle to match the alphas would look nice too. But that function rows nice and Retro!
