Model M with RJ45 connector

Hello,

From what I have read, converting a Model M with the RJ45 connector to a either a PS/2 or USB is not simple as the protocol is different from that of a Model M which has an AT type connector for example. Am I correct in looking for the AT or PS/2 Model M's specifically - and steering clear from the Model M's with the RJ45 connectors? Thanks!
