How to support Deskthority

Important: Deskthority will cease to exist as an official club and will get a new legal form. It is currently no longer possible to become a club member.

Want to support Deskthority? You can help us in two ways:

1. Become a club member

Deskthority is a worldwide, open, free speech forum, wiki and irc community where all registered members can freely participate without a hierarchical nature. It is run as an official club (or society, association), which means we have club members who take care of running things and democratically vote on how to do this. Deskthority doesn't have private owners, the community which forms and supports deskthority runs and owns it, with financial transparency. Deskthority was originally founded on 29 January 2011 and turned into an official, worldwide club at a notary on 30 October 2013.

Club members pay an annual contribution of 12 Euro or 14.50 US Dollars * (many donate some more), so we can pay for hosting and other costs. In return, club members can start votes about how this place is run, have voting powers, and vote with other members to elect a chairman and club master (see here for our exact organisaton). Club members can pay this contribution with a SEPA bank payment in Euro, with PayPal in USD or Euro, or with a Bitcoin transfer.

Members can choose their own "rank" (the little bit of text under your username and avatar, visible to everyone on the forum) as a bonus for being a member. Tell the club secretary what text you'd like, if you're interested.

We currently have 100 club members. Want to join us? Please send a private message to our club secretary. This is currently webwit, or in case he is not available, someone covering.

* The USD amount may be different at the time you read this, we have a Euro bank account so 12 Euro is leading.

2. Donate

Make a donation to Deskthority using PayPal, Credit Card or SEPA transfer.

I'm sure Webwit will devise some moneymaking scheme for reassigning numbers someday. As you can see, several numbers are inactive because old members didn't renew.

#0100 and #0101 are now both claimed, by the way. Both are catchy, binary style.

50 new members have signed up in 2016. We are up to # 180. Will we hit the magical # 200 before the end of the year?

We'd have to go from the year's current average of 1 member per week to 14 members per week for that to happen. :o
