Re: Keychron Q6 keyboard review (Novelkeys Cream Clickie)
I recently got them in tactile browns. Very impressed. Reminds me of SKCM Cream Damped, just with shorter travel. I think they have much more of an Alps tactile feel than Cherry clones.
I wonder if their non-LP optical switches are any good - I've heard they're based on the LK opticals Keychron ...

Model M improved with RGB
Guys,
I found something I know you'll really enjoy. Someone took an unwanted old Model M and added brand new modern RGB lighting:

Too bad he had to restore a weathered one. Maybe it's time to start doing this to pristine Model M's as ...

Re: Is there something about Cherry MX switches that make them more "clonable" than other designs?
Are any of the Chinese MX manufacturers going after Ergo Clears?
The official "Cherry MX Ergo Clears" is Cherry playing catch-up to the clone-manufacturers, many years late. Of course they don't mention the competition in their marketing.
I can't follow these things because their choice of ...

People on this forum might be interested in the "Frog TKL."

Re: New Keyboard Came In The Mail Today - Matias Mini Quiet Click for PC
The "Tactile Pro" is the clicky one. But the Tactile Pro is only available in a Mac configuration. Not the end of the world, but there is no Insert key. It's replaced by a fn key that doesn't produce a scan code.
Thanks. (What a convoluted naming method on Matias' part.)
I don't typically use ...

Re: Gasket mount keyboards vs plate mount
"A gasket mount uses gasket material between the plate and keyboard housing on both top and bottom sides. This gives the board a slightly more cushioned feel since the plate isn’t in direct contact with the other metal components of the keyboard."

Re: Gasket mount keyboards vs plate mount
Gasket-mount is getting much cheaper. I'm talking $179 kits, or even $59 kits [available during AliExpress sales].
In fact, gasket-mount has become synonymous with the budget section now.

Re: New Keyboard Came In The Mail Today - Matias Mini Quiet Click for PC
Forgive me, but it's been a while since I looked into Matias.
Can somebody refresh me: is the "quiet click" the tactile one, and the "tactile pro" the clicky one?
Also, which of them are still available? I wouldn't mind an ALPS-like tactile keyboard, but yes, quiet is better.

Talking about Cherry clones: has anybody been crazy enough to clone MX Clears?
I suppose you intended to be snarky, but I also don't know how ignorant you are: There are several options for "Ergo Clears" with lighter springs that lack the scratchiness and tight keycap mount of real Clear ...

Re: ELITEBOOK keyboard rant
Laptop keyboards are getting worse-and-worse.
It's not just a generational factor. Modern designers, especially at Apple, seem dominated by the phone/tablet mindset, in which keyboards aren't thought necessary. So they are an afterthought, and they use the minimal possible keyboard.

Re: MT3 Doubleshot
I think it is because, if the proposed black / white MT3 ABS keycaps are released, then you can buy the right mods and alphas to get 3278.
If they make those, they should add Honeywell Red / Turf Green / Honey and Co. accents and Dolch Cyan as options.

Yes, BOX Browns are actually pretty affordable, so I hope they stick closer to those prices.
'Better BOX Browns' could be a more viable market position for them than 'Zilent competitor,' but we'll see.
