I've never installed their app. DT works fine in every browser I use. But I get what you're saying. They've sunk to spamming us and I don't like it one bit! Cheating up their Google juice at the expense of our nice clean forum…
In most forums, no one would notice. But they've become the first flashing neon sign here at DT.

It's really not an issue of Tapatalk. I use it all the time and you don't see any sig from me.
It's the users not bothering to change the default settings.

True. But as I always say: defaults matter! Most people never change them.
I want a regularly run server side regex to purge this shit. We shouldn't have to. But Tapatalk already crossed that line and right into douchebaggery.

Hmm, typical. Because we set Tapatalk Site Owner option "Post signature" to "disabled". Used to work, but I just logged in and now this option has the help text "This is a paid settings." and they are offering different paid plans. I took the opportunity to disable all their ads settings. I have a slight itch to ban their ass. If they want to leech on us they should pay us, not spam us for money.

Exactly. Where's our freaking cut? Our club yacht needs shiny new doorknobs again. (Sorry about that. Lesson learned…)

Actually there is a cut. Although we never got paid because we never entered paypal details (which I did now). There should be about $30 coming from the last three years (if the monthly amounts didn't expire). Goldmine!

Hmm. Guess we're stuck with plastic doorknobs then. Ah well, beggars like us can't be choosers about such piffling things as the visual integrity of our own damn forum.

I quit Tapatalk altogether, just too shady in terms for privacy. I just use Opera mini from my phone now.

Good on you. I never saw the point in using an app to do a web browser's work in the first place. But now I get it. Coin!
Wait, you're on an AT and eating icecream yet still feel semi bored? That's hardcore ADHD! Either of those things should be an assault on the senses.

It does have it's functionally, no doubt. Strange how there are few alternative apps on Android that otherwise has a trillion other apps for every little instance of life that is totally whimsical.

Seems I'm too jaded then. Shame on me! That's what DT did to me.

Sounds like venture capital to me.
So, what's it do that visiting and posting to DT with a browser can't match? Besides messing up attachments, messing up emojis, and advertising itself? Because that's all I've ever seen.

AFAIK there is nothing your average browser cannot do, but Tapatalk makes it slightly more comfortable in some instances. And the "less fuss" more brainless ticket goes a long long way these days...that's how success stories are made. Make it easy on the human ape tapping and wiping on the glass, don't make it difficult!

The human is a lazy evolved ape IMO, counting myself in. Habits and congeniality are major traits.

More discussion on this topic rumbling here:

I'd like to automate this. Either refuse posts with the ad, or perhaps auto cleanse it.

That's the cunning evil they're up to. Hide it from you users, but spam all of us, even those like me who'll never use an app. They don't care. Their motive is to juice their Google ranking. Shitting all over thousands of forums? Sure thing, boss!!
We can nag individual users. But it's a naturally never ending battle. Until, of course, either Tapatalk cuts this shit or we cut Tapatalk.

Uhh nope, that would actually be a bit too radical. But not publishing posts which contains Tapatalk signatures would be something I'd recommend.

Earlier this thread, Webwit said we could ban them outright. I've no idea if my idea — screening all posts server-side for Crapatalk sig spam — is technically feasible. I wanted to prompt him for an answer, but so far quiet duck.
Another thing I'd consider is a regex find and replace for all instances of the sig, to nuke them. Or perhaps the posts they're attached to…
Seriously though, Tapatalk doesn't give a fuck about DT. They won't care about our pissing and whining, or even if we nuke their app from our forum. There's plenty more fish in the sea for them. And now they have proved how much contempt they really hold all of us in, I expect they'll get rid of your option to turn off their sig sooner or later anyhow.

It would be a pity because I kinda like Tapatalk for staying updated when on the run.
The best way to get rid of the signature would be if we scan the post before it's sent and then parse the last line, if it contains a match on a simple Tapatalk pattern just delete it, or even better. Deny the post with an proper error message.
I'd be glad offer my service to implement this feature

@Webwit: you've got a volunteer! I don't even know enough about how this stuff works to know the language Cookie would need to work in…
