Hi all! i'm considering trying the ergo clears and i was thinking of modding the mx5000 i have at work. What's the fastest way? only changing the stems?

Yes, just get some clear stems and exchenge the (browns?) that are in there. It is very easy to do on the G80 since it is PCB mount just pop the switch open and switch the stem parts.

So i only need to order the ergo switches, the one's i currently have in there are brown yes.Should i order pcb ones too?

there are no such thing as an ergo switch man. Ergo clears are simply MX clears with MX brown springs. What you want to get is a tool to open the switches easily, for example a pair of medical tweezers and MX clears. Then, open the switches and switch only the stem, leaving the brown springs.

I use a pair like this, perhaps you can find one like it where you live: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Meriam-pinzette- ... 27c64660ce

I don't use anything fancy for switch opening, only a small flat screwdriver.

To open a switch:
There are four small tabs near each corner of the switch, two on the left side and two on the right side.
For each tab, there is a hole on top of the switch. Insert your tweezer or screwdriver into one of these holes and pry it to open the tab from the inside. Then to the same with the next tab.
There should be a guide on Youtube also, but you have to search for it yourself.

You could order clear switches to pull the stems from, but often people are selling just the stems. Makes it a lot easier (probably cheaper too)

Hi there,
is it possible to open a plate mounted switch without having to dissolder it? I have read different opinions regardign this issue, so i'm a bit confused right now.

Only on custom boards(plates) that have extra notches for that purpose; for a regular retail board you have to desolder.
