Re: Dell L100/SK-8115 (matte silver/gray with black logo)
In my experience, many Dell rubber dome keyboards used to suffer from quite tough resistance when keys (esp. longer ones) were pressed near their edges (not in their centre). Maybe this keyboard is the exception to this rule?
Not an exception really, these keyboards use plastic stabilizers last ...

Re: Jimmy Carter at his PC
Looks very similar to the Compaq Enhanced board I have with Keytronic dome with sliders. Not a very nice thing to type on.
If it's not that, it's very likely an RT101 with NMB dome with sliders:

Re: topre 30g vs 45g
I've found that 45g topre are definitely stiffer than MX brown. At least this is the case on my HHKB.
I doubt they mean that 30g is more mushy in terms of bottom out feel, it's probably just less tactile. People deeper in the community tend to love hyper tactile switches for some reason.

Label says Clone Turbo PC. At least they're pretty straight forward with admitting they're a clone! But yes, one of many PC XT clones of the time. Acer has nothing to do with it, just happened to find its way to being paired with this system. As always, if it can come with blue alps, don't be ...

It looks like the top left branding says Incomm™, but I'm not sure. The company was founded in 1992 and I feel like that's a bit too new. But it does match up with the board having a card reader, so.
Where is the card reader located? The top?

ITW magnetic valve, low profile. Neat switches. Shame it's missing caps (and return springs), though.

Old laptops are a gamble unless you SPECIFICALLY know that many examples show to have the switches you're looking for. I've seen some old Zenith laptops come with SKCL Green, then very similar models have Alps Integrated Dome or SKFL.

The keys themselves look like they have small plastic washers on the stems to help seat the dome mat better. Might wanna check those, otherwise I can't really think of anything affecting consistency.

Re: Harris Computer Systems KB-23B (Keytronic Foam and Foil)
Oh, for sure! The pics you attached very clearly show these are foam and foil. I'm mostly interested in the slider itself being a different shape than any other F&F switch I've seen to date. There were quite a few switches that straight up recycled the Keytronic mount, which I assume these to be ...

Interesting. Are you sure those are Keytronics? They look similar but the inside well of the slider isn't usually that smooth. They look a bit more like the KT dome with sliders I have.

Yellows are great. Really I think the whole first gen SKCM/SKCL being better than all the newer stuff is a bit overblown.. Condition matters far more than anything. I'll take a clean white alps board over a dirty blue alps board any day of the week.

Looks like they have a "tactile" version also:

That's neat, I don't see tactile clones very frequently. In this case, it'd have to use one of the larger Alps-style tactile leaves, right?

Oldest variant of SKCM White known?
Just a bit curious on the history of these ever since I posted many years ago about a board with SKCM Whites that had dry lubricant and gold springs. Recently, my interest was piqued once again when I rescued an FK-3001 from April-May 1989 that has early SKCM White. Anyone ever find any with tall ...
