How to clean cables?

Just saved a model M from the garbage but the cable is dirty as hell. How do you guys clean coiled cables?

I clean non-coiled cables with alcohol on a rag.

you can submerge it in water with detergent or whatever, rub, then let it dry.

Alcohol or ammonia based detergent like Glassex (the thing that in America you call Windex)

ethanol alcohol ?
then soap/water and hand towel
then ethanol alcohol one more

It worked fine,
Maybe should i test with the minty fresh dental tabs...

Its actually also possible to clean cables with denture cleaning tabs. Tie it together a bit with a cable binder or wire, then have it soak in a small container with a few denture cleaning tabs. They are the solution to almost all keyboard related cleaning problems :D
