Lucky and Jealous. I am still waiting (patiently yes, but waiting) for my set to ship. There seems to be some drama over there that I'm staying out of since Bunny and Cody have been keeping up with the updates as much as possible. Can't wait to be the one to post a few next!

Beautiful! Oh those alphas remind me of my old C64 days. This has a similair color scheme but not as nice:

Really? I had no idea...I stopped watching the thread after I got mine..
I know Bunny has taken some time off since the new member in the family, but I'd have thought SA Retro was done by now.
Thank you!

The reason you don't see so much is because not everyone has theirs!
I think they have only 10 or so orders left, but there are some really high-cost orders. I have only a numpad left (which Cody forgot to add in my original shipment), but others have outstanding orders in the hundreds.

That's so beautiful. It brings tears to my eyes ... that I'm not in on the group buy.

How does that bottom row 4 plus spacebar feel? Especially compared to traditional flat row 3 SA?
Also: stepped Caps Lock on a TKL? What's the board?
The PETSCII front legends have turned out spectacularly well. SP did a great job. Damn it, we need to use that feature more often! I wonder, how about red APL front legends on Round 6…

I'm nowhere near the transition of the spacebar when I type, so no problem with the mixed rows. I have no other experience with R3 bottom row, but sometimes when I press Alt with the side of my thumb, R4 feels a bit sharp.
It's a Phantom in a Filco case with stainless ANSI150 plate from my GB and sweet vintage blacks!
I love stepped Caps Lock...
The front legends are really nice, but if I had to nitpick, there is a tiny bit of jaggedness on some of the diagonals, and they should have been a tiny bit more creamy to match the DS legends better. Now they are a bit too cool, and being almost always in the shadow doesn't help much.
i'd like to get them in a year or two!

Now, that's a nice Idea, but how about having them in R5a on white alphas and black mods?

Damn it chzel, how the hell did you manage to take a picture of the same keycaps I'm typing on yet make them look even better than real life?! I was honestly jealous for a little while, then I realised that I was typing on my own SA Retros... No PETSCII, but still!

Um… PETSCII!
That's the art of good keycap porn. If you're doing it right, it does look better than it usually does in real life. Because you set the light just so, and chose your angle. Real life is more like potato pics. Dim light, arbitrary glances.

Because Round 5 Honey is sublime. Its vintage cred is even deeper than SA Retro. SA Retro is cool in a kitchy kind of way, but not nearly as classy and timeless as Honey. The brown and burgandy colors are very rich, but they make me think "expensive candy" more than "vintage keyboard".

You're right, I don't really regret buying Round 5. It's beautiful. But, you know, the caps are always more burgundy on your neighbor's keyboard...

My father worked at ICL during the eighties and we had an OPD at home for a while. We had the keyboard with built in phone handset and those colors. I have fond memories of that computer and especially the voice synthesis program it had.seebart wrote:Beautiful! Oh those alphas remind me of my old C64 days.
