Dunno what switches, but the PCB on the first one lines up with sideways MX switches and the second one has the article number UB80. I searched up UB80 and found a different model with MX Blacks, which lines up with the article numbers (80 = MX).

Exactly. MX didn't exist yet!
Muirium wrote: They're older than MX, so don't expect to be able to do much with those caps, mind. Back then, Cherry used much bigger mounts.
Expect these guys:

Looks MX compatible. But these are way bigger!

Right - not M8. I was thinking of the other Cherry switch that was similar to M7. (whatever the hell it was)
I think I'll try to get one of the PCB ones. It looks like an Apple II replacement keyboard - and I've got an Apple II that might look good in black. Thanks for the links, lolpes!

Ah well. I'm disappointed to be wrong. But far from surprised I wasn't first. It's a perfectly simple idea. Pity it didn't also come to Cherry…

Instead Cherry is calling their most recent switch "MX RGB Nature White". Is that THE worst name ever? I think so.

I just figured out what you meant, this was from the vintage computing category, not all of eBay, sorry if there was confusion.

Hey, the XT was my first mech. It's a great board. Quirky, but efficient as hell if you fall for its switches hard enough to make the effort to adapt to it. (Remapping mods via Soarer's Converter highly recommended.)
Of course, there's another Model F a little higher in my rotation:

Honestly I'll probably end up selling my XT at some point because it's so hard to use for me. Plus the spacebar is just too heavy.

Might as well. There's always demand for Model F. Well, okay, more over here in Europe where there's less supply. Seeing as you're in America, keep your eyes peeled for an AT. That's a configurable board!

The spacebar on the XT and AT can be unweighted a bit. I haven't tried it, but there are ways. My Kishsaver here has a spacebar that's about the same weight as on a Model M. Same length too: a much more sensible 7 units. Feels just right to me.
