Your modern G80-3000 may have a flimsy case, but the older-gen Cherry boards are much more heavy-duty. Newer Cherry boards such as modern G80-3000s and G80-1800s have REALLY flimsy cases, but the classic ones were several orders of magnitude better. Check out G80-1000s for Cherry Corp keyboards that were really built like brick shithouses. They're similar enough to later Model Ms.

By the way, where'd you buy it? These are some really handsome boards, I'd like to get one for myself at some point.

Wingnut cameo appearance on the Reuters battleship. Nice. ;) But Scott is right, even a G80-1000 case is quite a bit sturdier than those latter G80-3000. My G80-0499 is rock solid for PCB mount, but it's from 1985. My Cherry G80-2100 is quite well built, probably approaching this Reuters.

Hmmm, yeah, I think my oldest G80-3000 is from 1992 and it has the same flimsy build quality, so I probably just haven't run into one of the older, better-built ones yet. When I do I might make a comparison video out of it :) .
