Trying to get into vintage keyboards and I figured I'd start with one of the greatest.
Any layout F is fine, just so long as it works.

I'd say to get the cheapest one there, the Model F XT sold by Greennovation. I've dealt with the seller many times and I've never been disappointed with my purchases. I recently got my F 122 from them.flameslicer wrote: 17 May 2019, 00:38 Trying to get into vintage keyboards and I figured I'd start with one of the greatest.

That's actually very cheap for a Model F and it looks to be in excellent condition. You can very easily clean the keycaps by leaving them to soak in boiling, soapy water.
I'd say the XT is one of the best models, and definitely the most underrated. The layout isn't too bad once you get used to it, although I don't really use my keyboards for any work. It's definitely built the best out of the main Models F, with its extremely thick plastic shell and metal back panel.
For me, if I ever see a good deal, I can't resist - even though I've owned about 8 Model F XTs now. They all sound different to each other, with different-coloured heat-treated backplates, differences in keycap thickness/legend quality, different case textures/finishes. I never get bored of buying XTs!
