Looking for 5 to 7 people (no more for now, as I don't want the order to run into several hundreds of euros) to participate in a group buy for model M APL Keycaps with orange sublegends. These are unicomp repros and in ANSI style with English legends and DOES NOT include the space-bar.
The following options are also available
Blank ANSI keycap set - 37 euros Blank ANSI keycap set 122 keys - 45 euros

The keycap sets should cost around 50 euros including shipping, customs and VAT. Shipping is from the US to Germany. Shipment from me to you will be extra (4 to 8 euros depending on the destination country). The following options are also available

I take it you must have a source for these since Unicomp stopped producing the orange APL keys.

No, all model M keycaps are dye sublimated.
Also, this group buy is only for folks in Europe (EU states only).

The source is unicomp, I was also under the impression they had stopped making these. But they wrote to me, they will.JP! wrote: 01 May 2020, 03:04 I take it you must have a source for these since Unicomp stopped producing the orange APL keys.

One thing worth pointing out is that the blue and orange APL keycaps have different layouts for different APL implementations. The orange ones are for IBM APL2, whereas the blue ones are for Dyalog APL. It may be helpful to understand this distinction if you are trying to request that Unicomp produces more of the orange ones.

I don't mean to be that guy, but the APL sublegends are desirable for their decorative qualities, not because many of us might program in APL...daedalus wrote: 03 May 2020, 10:41 One thing worth pointing out is that the blue and orange APL keycaps have different layouts for different APL implementations. Same for me, I am buying them for the novelty. I have zero interest to know what the differences between APL and APL2 are.depletedvespene wrote: 03 May 2020, 15:23I don't mean to be that guy, but the APL sublegends are desirable for their decorative qualities, not because many of us might program in APL...daedalus wrote: 03 May 2020, 10:41 One thing worth pointing out is that the blue and orange APL keycaps have different layouts for different APL implementations. The reason I point it out is that it may make it easier to explain to Unicomp what you are looking fordepletedvespene wrote: 03 May 2020, 15:23I don't mean to be that guy, but the APL sublegends are desirable for their decorative qualities, not because many of us might program in APL...daedalus wrote: 03 May 2020, 10:41 One thing worth pointing out is that the blue and orange APL keycaps have different layouts for different APL implementations. Frankly, I think Unicomp itself might not be able to tell the difference and just go "Oh, they're not the same, besides the color?!"daedalus wrote: 03 May 2020, 16:11The reason I point it out is that it may make it easier to explain to Unicomp what you are looking fordepletedvespene wrote: 03 May 2020, 15:23I don't mean to be that guy, but the APL sublegends are desirable for their decorative qualities, not because many of us might program in APL...daedalus wrote: 03 May 2020, 10:41 One thing worth pointing out is that the blue and orange APL keycaps have different layouts for different APL implementations. Oh, they do: https://support.pckeyboard.com/knowledg ... article=73
They don't have the older layout listed in their KB. Whether they will make it on request, or print the newer version with orange legends is another question

If you guys are only buying APL keycaps for aesthetic reasons, then you might want to check out Unicomp's US International layout that is also two tone.
Unfortunately, it's not as pretty as the APL set. But it is a genuinely useful layout.
