Ugh, THAT is how you do tables in this Wiki? Is there a trick? Do I use some front end tool or be one with the pipe?

It's not that difficult: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Tables

Just put someone else's article in edit mode and copy the code if you're lazy.
You could also try this: http://excel2wiki.net/ I've never used it though.

Please do use the "wikitable" style. A table could be written like this:

Regular users can't rename pages.

You can create a new page though and let the old page redirect to the new one by replacing the contents of the old page with this statement:

Code: Select all

#REDIRECT [[pagename]]

EDIT: Scrap that, there's a tool to do all of this automatically but it's hidden: Wikipedia: How to move a page. It does all of the aforementioned operations under the hood PLUS it keeps the page's editing history!

Renaming wikis at Geekhack is borked at Geekhack because of a WikiVault bug but still iMav lists it as one Of the reasons he banned me.

You have to Login first (I use Stevie Wonder for the lulz), then just add the term Coolermaster QuickFire Storm (not sure of spelling) Keyboards, look for that little create new page in red and off you go!

Then it gets confusing fast for mere mortals although I have tables and pics uploads nailed.

But I figure if SHE can do it so can I!

Think of an URL and go there, then click on the Create tab:

Spaces will be automatically replaced by underscores.
Check the source of a similar page and copy and paste to get a template to start with.
Check how other pages are added to categories by the tags at the bottom.

Should it be better to have all these variations (w/o windows keys, ANSI and ISO) in a single article, or is it better as several?

But then I'm used to doing BIG wikis.

The other Wikietiquette thing is as the wikis mature they really need to have some place to discuss corrections. I always hate people editing wikis without discussion. like iMav blocking me from editing my own content!

I've got a lot more but correcting people's wiki mistakes is a sure fire way to piss off a LOT of people.

If they get pissed off then that's their problem. I encourage people to correct mistakes in articles I've made - that's how the quality of articles improves.

Regarding putting the Dell keyboards in one article, I'll share the approach that I've taken for Topre keyboards which is to keep all the generic boards that only have small variations (such as the Realforce series) in the same article, but the limited/rare boards have their own articles (assuming they are interesting enough).

Edit: By the way, I added the 'See also' template which I copied from Wikipedia. I am not sure how to give credit to it so if somebody could review what I've done here that'd be great: http://deskthority.net/wiki/Template:See_also

Don't be afraid to add your note about the spacebar to the Keyboard cleaning topic while you're at it.
So far my contributions to the wiki are all easily confirmable with simple observation so I don't think you'll find too much to correct

Ok removing things is a little more serious than modifying existing content. While I don't think ovens hold a place on a wiki about keyboards, I would normally leave the removal of this sort of stuff in the hands of the higher-ups.

The oven may be relevant to the keycap drying process, but I don't think the model really is - however nice it may be (and it does look nice)

Also, it has got some nice mechanical switches! And the key caps are in otaku style!

I like the oven. Not so much the cooking keys part.
