DataHand palm rests

I would like to try other sizes.

The actual palm rests seem to be unobtainable but I have access to a 3D printer. Does anybody have access to a 3D scanner and the palm rests? The scans don't have to be very good I don't think accuracy is required in this case. I can do some clean up in a modelling program but something to start from would be nice.

I forgot what size you have. Small? Datahand only had small around the time we were discussing this months ago. I was going to make molds of my large palm rests, but had to fire sale my Datahand due to my trauma :(

No, I have the large ones but I think I don't like them. I believe my DataHand may feel more comfortable since I simply removed them.

I have large, small, but no 3d scanner.

I'm putting it on my ToDo list to check out our options for scanning but I am super swamped right now.

Why not contact Hoggy and swap palm rests?

Or that yes, but I would like to scan mine first so we can reproduce them if need be.

Where I work we CT scan a bunch of random crap every few months. We're UK based, but I'm sure I can scan -> STL some stuff if I had it :)

CT? Computed tomography?

Yeah, the fun you can have with a scan of any old thing :)

Got a kinder egg that we've been meaning to look at for a while

Haha. Okay let's hear where you work then. :)

OT: If you could scan those pads for us it would be great. Just have to convince webwit or hoggy to send you the smalls. :)

Sadly, I've got large pads, but really need extra large...

I don't really know what kind of pads would be ideal. To be honest the entire Datahand seems to be a little too large for me. My tiny fingers have to move so far from one side switch to the other and my ring fingers really don't move sideways very well....

Aha!
Datahand is not perfect!
Hmmm.....mod?

Well, it is a very specific design which I suppose makes it harder to make one that fits many people. In addition with the relatively low numbers being used I doubt there is much feedback.

But the intensity of the feedback is probably very high. There are no alternatives.

Your one post above about the fit, is the first time I've been far enough away from Datahand/keyboards/etc. to consider an improvement/alteration.

Here is my thought:
Instead of the large finger wells, if they were made much smaller, fitting your finger tips almost like a glove?

I need the space, otherwise I would make errors. For example, when I move my middle finger right, my ring finger also moves a little. Without force, and now it doesn't hit a key, but if the spaces get too tight, it might.

Good point.
I'm thinking of a happy medium. I noticed the space seemed to big, but I never used my unit to understand how much room was needed for "the Webwit slop" (sorry Webwit). But I understand it is there and the room is needed. Obviously it's too much room for Icarium, which I also see. If it could be tailored is the question.....

The other non-adjustable feature is relative finger lengths. I.e. it presumes a longer middle finger than ring finger, etc. I can poke your eye out with my ring finger though, it's huge. Apparently this means I'm a heterosexual math expert.

Again, an interesting point.
I had noticed the need for the finger wells to possibly have a bit of adjustability as well. It can be done relatively easily (I've fantasized about this) without making the finger wells further apart...which is crucial.

I'm imagining a custom Datahand. This will need to happen in a year or two. Then make the damn things in Asia for a retail price of $300 USB.

Hetero Math Man...lol
