DIY soft landing pads

So in order to reduce the noise of bottoming out my keyboard I made my own homemade version of the soft landing pads:

I used a kind of rubber foam usually used by children for crafting:

A standard hole puncher has just the right diameter for the cherry mx switches.



I cut them about 12mm x 12mm which fits very well.

The end result is fairly nice for 5 bucks and I only used a fraction of one of the 10 sheets in the pack. Bottoming out is noticeably quieter but I don't think the switch travel is changed much.

Hmm, I've got a bunch of neoprene sheets here, I might cut a few pieces out and see how it goes. Nice idea to use the hole punch!

The kind of material they use in cheap silicone bakeware works ok too. I sacrificed a floppy breadpan. A bit like RD material, i suppose.

Well not really. The only option seems to be a mix of diameters. Which means you have no idea how many packs you have to order to get the 87-100+ rings you need for a keyboard. If you could order specific sizes then it would be cheap.
