Base set will include 3 blank key for each row, for worst case scenario those could be used if one hates a wrong charachters and does not get thier specific langauge set to production.

Sounds good. Two or three 1.25 blank modifiers would also be appreciated by non-windows users.lysol wrote:Base set will include 3 blank key for each row, for worst case scenario those could be used if one hates a wrong charachters and does not get thier specific langauge set to production.

I am starting to think that GMK aren't as good at making new legends and molds for them as Cherry, or they put less effort into them than Cherry did or something. These are the legends Originative had made at GMK:
http://i.imgur.com/yrbVpUb.jpg
I thyink they look quite crooked, uneven and generally of bad quality legend-wise. I am not blaming Originative for the outcome. I wonder if GMK did their best or if they are just less experienced with this than Cherry and just took over the molds. Or perhaps I am the only one who think that these new legends don't quite match the quality of the old ones.

Quite shaky, good they aren't doctors..damorgue wrote:...that these new legends don't quite match the quality of the old ones.
Why do you rule out a bad template? them just being very 1:1 could be a possibility too.

Yes there was a reason Cherry never made win and menu in doubleshot, they do look crappy. I don't like them either and would rather have pad print like older original Cherry set honestly. Or even not bother with them at all and just have blanks is fine in my opinion.
Also update on the white on purple modifier pack, cmyk pack and esc pack. Finally all the plastic colors ordered will be arriving to GMK next week. Then I will get some samples to make sure everything is good and as requested. Once that is ok should be able to move that into ordering phase towards end of month or early March.

I agree those menu and win keys from Originative look shitty.

However these are quite nice and also made by GMK.
I think every future GB should adopt these keys. I even like the Win 8 logo used on those Chinese pbts.

Never thought those completely white sets would look so classy... Even though I can't understand the decision to not have text on the Shift and Backspace, but only on Enter.
Wonder if the guy who sold these on Ebay will get more? I have a feeling there wouldn't be enough interest for a group buy of a completely white set. :<
dirge, for each time you post that picture, I think it looks better and better. Is this what they call brainwashing?

I don't have a definite time slot for full set from GMK yet. Only a we will do our best to fit into the production schedule, but we don't have any priority over large industrial orders.

Sherryton announcing what probably could be Dolch sets
We should reject Dolch and go directly with the safest choice:

The yellow in dirge's pic does indeed look nicer than the one one the Handarbeit.

I'm getting really frustrated with this situation with originative. It's really annoying that each time something is winning in the groupbuy voting its suddenly available.
Not sure how I want to proceed.

If you decide to drop dolch (maybe it's just some fud'ing on his part) i suggest moving right on to the 2nd place without another vote (thus doing his work).
I wouldn't drop it though and try to go forward with dolch.. there's still a ton of plusses compared to orgi-sets (which noone hasn't seen one of anyway):
#better price
#much more options (langs, layouts, etc.)
#transparency
#honor
#and more

We could still possibly run a Dolch set, even if it's what Originative is also doing, but that would depend on people interested not dropping out on the group buy and buying a (more expensive) set just because it's available faster.
Only the set itself would be like $15-$55 more depending on his pricing, and shipping a keycap set from the US rather than Germany is probably about $20 more expensive (for me, that is). So, for me personally, I'd rather wait three months than pay up to $75 more for the same set (without the possibility to buy keycaps from some fun language).
I have a feeling a lot of the people on here would agree with that since they're European, but it's probably another thing for you people on the other side of the pond.
I'm a "somewhat overly optimistic a lot of times" guy though, so maybe this post is just about hopeful thinking. :>

That's not really a bad idea, except that people like me who wouldn't want to buy a Skidata or Dolski set would get a bit dissapointed, haha.
Something you could do is have a vote up for only like a week (and stress the fact that the set we'll be buying is to be decided very soon), and then quickly move on to taking payments and "locking people up". The problem with this would be having your money "locked up", but people survived the Cherry PBT replica group buy, so maybe it's not impossible?
Hopeful thinking, strike!

I wouldn't have been surprised to see this from an established vendor, but from someone that is this connected to the community, wow. I know he said that ISO addons would be a possibility in the future, but language specific keys? No way he will ever do that. I'd like to see a reproduction set win this group buy as it seems that bridge will be burnt by Originative eventually. New designs can always be done later.
I think that if we have to ditch dolch, we would have to do another vote. Personally I would not be happy with a dolchski set and would much rather have any reproduction set. Perhaps bring back some beige/white sets if another vote is done?

I think I will just put on hold until GMK wants to give us a firm production slot for full sets, then we will revisit the colorways. Until then we can switch gears and have more discussion about how to handle the logistics, payment collections and some of these other important topics.
