New member here who wants to jump into hand wiring a keyboard already :) I was checking to see if anyone else had some interest in the layout I'm looking to use so maybe we could get a price break from http://www.bigbluesaw.com. To be totally honest I won't want to manage a big GB, I just want to hit the 5-9 pieces so that the price break kicks in so I would probably cap this at 8 people (plus myself).

I've uploaded everything to the Big Blue Saw site already, here are the links to the initial quotes I had come up with:

Switch plate ($31.68): https://www.bigbluesaw.com/index.php?op ... xf&step=20

Open case ($14.12): https://www.bigbluesaw.com/index.php?op ... xf&step=20

Closed case ($14.16): https://www.bigbluesaw.com/index.php?op ... xf&step=20

Base plate ($19.74): https://www.bigbluesaw.com/index.php?op ... xf&step=20

The actual keyboard layout looks like this:

The switch plate and base plate would be aluminum (bare finish), the middle sections would be clear acrylic and be made up of two parts, one with a cutout for the USB plug and the other without. The idea is you'll end up with four pieces (one of each). The screw holes are 2mm. This is really a bare-bones type of design as I didn't want to dump a fortune into my first attempt at this so please keep that in mind.

The estimated shipping if we maxed out at 9 orders would be ~$20 total so ~$2 per person bringing the parts total to $81.70. Assuming everyone is in the states I could probably fit each set into a flat rate USPS box for $12.65 which means the final shipped price would be $94.35. If you are outside of the states I'd have to do a bit of research as to what is the easiest/cheapest way to get everything to you, probably fedex/ups though.

So... Anyone interested? :P

Not to discourage you, but that looks vaguely familiar.

:)
You are 100% correct but being stubborn and a person who likes to get my hands dirty I wanted to go the hand wiring route. Additionally from what I've seen browsing the forums it seems you never know when your GB items might show up with these larger buys. It could be 2 weeks or it could be 6 months. With this since it is low volume and just the case+plate the delivery time is basically how long it takes Big Blue Saw to make the parts (which seems to be pretty quick) + shipping.

If nobody is interested and the price of the whitefox is near what I'd be spending for this one though I will likely be trying to get in on that GB.
