Bought one of these the other day and last night used to do remove a load of MX switches from an old board.

Found it a lot easier than braid or pump, also it's from a UK supplier with a UK plug. However it's not a moulded plug so most likely a Chinese version with a cheap plug on it.

Might check that out, I'd been looking at getting one of them as I'm burning through desoldering wick at an alarming rate and £14odd posted is pretty damn cheap. I have found wick much easier then pump for switches though, takes me 2 or 3 tries with a pump but I can usually get everything out in one blast with the wick.

I had to edit my post, I thought I'd bought the £14 one, but I actually bought a £6 one. I'm still here, not electricuted and after 15 mins of use wasn't so hot I couldn't handle it. I couldn't tell it was on actually.

Some of the Chinese ones have additional tips which may help. I didn't have any problems but did wonder if a smaller end would be better.

Well £6 is practically free and if it hasn't killed/maimed you yet it's good enough for me :D. It only needs to last long enough to take apart my Filco when my clears arrive anyway. Might even get 2...

I'm more than happy with mine, get one, its the price of a sandwich and a packet of crisps!

I'll be harvesting some vintage blues for the phantom soon :)

Hope the phantoms come next week :) I think I'm all set now. Then I've got to make some DIY cases for them :)
